Question about Vehicle Parts & Accessories
Added 4 quarts in 2 days of oil. It's still reading T the bottom of the stick
Posted by Anonymous on
It sounds like you have a severe oil leak. If adding oil and it still is at the bottom of the stick, make sure the stick is inserted all the way into the tube when checking the level. If it is, begin looking under the car and under the hood around the engine to see if there are obvious signs of an oil leak. When the light comes on, it is an indication of a loss of oil pressure. No oil pressure will result in catostrophic damage to engine internals.
If you can change the oil yourself, try to verify how much oil comes out when you drain it. Then fill with the recommended amount of oil and monitor it daily. If it starts out reading full on the stick but begins dropping as you drive it, keep it topped off and get it to a mechanic.
