Main filter cap? if so replace them both as well as the rectifier/ diodes. there is probably an overload/short circut issue somewhere else in the amp so I would extensively test the amp before repowering it. I recommend using 20 000 mfd 100 v caps for main filter, they're about $20 each and the relay is under 10, 30 amp rectifier is about 7 bucks. do not use loads of less than 4 ohms with this amp

I don't recommend this, but the resistor you speak of is probably a small fuse. Try jumping out the fuse, then turn on unit for brief moment. If it powers up, fine. Replace jumper wire with 1 amp fuse. If not, take to prof. tech.

SOURCE: no power to filter capacitors

After switch through relay then down to fuse you should come to a full wave rectifier (solid state vs. tube?). The output of the rectifier goes to the filter caps. example: +30vdc, -30vdc with respect to ground. Best of luck.

Sony STR-DE575 connected to 220V

Doubt the main pcb needs replacing, but the standby transformer would definitely go in that situation. Standby transformer wouldn't be that expensive, but no way to say that it's the only thing that is bad. It is also soldered in, so you would need to know how to do that to replace it, or bring it to someone who could. If you're staying long-term in Europe, it might just be better to buy something local so as to not run into this problem again.

I have a LG LRE30453SW Electric Range and the relay pcb keeps going bad. I get an F7 error when starting the oven. The first time I noticed the black line in, from the power terminal, to the relay pcb was...

First, check the 220v line and breakers are properly grounded and that you are getting a constant 220v at the plug. Then you will need to check the transformer on the unit.To test a transformer you need to know what type of transformer it is first. There is a step up transformer which steps the voltage up and a step down transformer which steps the voltage down.
You will still test the transformers the same way for step up and step down transformers. If it is a step up transformer apply the incoming power to the transformer or plug it up. Now take your multimeter and place it on the AC volt scale and test the voltage if the voltage on the data plate says the transformer should step up to 220 volts and it doesn't then your transformer is bad.
Now repeat the same steps for a step down transformer. Plug up the incoming or primary power and test voltage on the outcoming or secondary side the voltage should step down to the proper value. If you don't read any voltage on the secondary or outgoing side then the transformer is bad.
To read the voltage place the two meter leads on the secondary side, or the side you will plug your equipment into. If the secondary side is an outlet then place the two meter leads into the top two slots in the plug and read voltage. You also want to make sure the incoming power is working as well. Otherwise you will be reading a bad reading every time.
If all that looks good, then you will need to replace the control board. Here is a link to the parts for your range.

My house was struck by lightning most of all my computers and tv's and phones are no working and my ac is not coming on at all. What happen to my AC unit

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly.

The main Preinted circuit board (PCB) most likely has had a failure of the small PCB transformer. This is the most susceptable component (PCB transformer) in the Air Conditioner. Within the last 60 days I have personally experienced the exact same symtom. I replaced the PCB transformer and 1 diode on the main PCB of the air-conditioner and my AC unit is working fine. Unless you can find a source for the transformer your only option is to replace the PCB (Board).

Finding the exact transrformer for the PCB can take a very long time. It iwll look similar to this one: http://www.machsources.com/productimages/9913/pcb-mounting-transformer.jpg

If you have home owners insurance ALL STATE and State Farm often cover this type of damage. It is worth the time to find out if you are a home owner.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

I have a RUDD 90 Plus Performance Achiever units. But, my Outside unit for upstairs A/c doesn't turn on. But the downstair one is working fine. I went to main switch board panel and switched off and...

You will have to find the power source to your outside condensor unit(usually by the unit) and make sure you have power at the box and unit. My be contactor on outside unit or inside for low voltage(26 volts) on the main board. The contactor is the key as it will let you know if the inside unit is sending 26 volts to the contactor which pull in and activates the compressor/fan. If it sending the voltage but not engaging then it is the contactor, if it is not sending the voltage then it is a fuse or the main board. Hope this helps Tim

Rca model d52w19 turns on and off three times then you have to try it agin. Sometimes it stays on somtimes it dosnt.

These units are famous for bad capacitors in the power supply and loose connections around the high voltage transformer. There are four capacitors in the power supply that will be bulged out on the top. They are towards the front of the power supply PCB. You have to remove the PCB in order to change these and repair the loose connections at the transformer. Cap values are marked on the components. Hope this helps. Thanks

1. Check that the trimpots on the front panel are all the way up.
2. The speaker relay on the Amp PCB may be bad. Over time the fingers can warp and won't make contact any longer.

Good Day, ya'll;

TRY THIS:

1. SHUTDOWN CAN BE CAUSED BY NO VERTICAL DEFLECTION. SINCE THE VERTICAL CIRCUIT IS POWERED BY THE SWITCHED POWER SUPPLY THE UNIT MUST BE TURNED ON TO TROUBLESHOOT THE CIRCUIT. THIS CAN BE ACCOMPLISHED BY TEMPORARILY DISCONNECTING THE VERTICAL INPUT TO THE X-PROTECT CIRCUIT. ** TO PREVENT DAMAGE TO THE CRT'S YOU MUST UNPLUG THE CRT PCB'S. ** TO DEFEAT THE X-PROTECT CIRCUIT, UNSOLDER D4A1 LOCATED OFF THE COLLECTOR OF Q4A1. IF THE UNIT POWERS ON AT THIS POINT, YOU HAVE CONFIRMED A VERTICAL FAILURE AS THE CAUSE FOR SHUTDOWN. ** D4A1 MUST BE REINSTALLED IN CIRCUIT TO PREVENT CRT DAMAGE. ** 2. WITH VERTICAL PROTECTION DEFEATED (D4A1 OUT OF CIRCUIT) WHEN THE UNIT POWERS R514 (PIN 11 OF THE FLYBACK) OPENS. CHECK PARALLEL CAP. C512 .33 UFD 400 V IF C512 IS GOOD REPLACE THE FLYBACK PART # 334P191020 ON THE MAIN PCB. 3. CHECK PIN 1 OF IC401 FOR 10.7VDC. IF LOW OR MISSING CHECK FOR SHORTED D4000 (PART #264P487030) LOCATED OFF PIN 1. (PCB-MAIN) 4. CHECK PIN 8 OF IC401 FOR 28.4VDC. IF MISSING CHECK FOR OPEN D520 AND R540 AT PIN 5 OF FLYBACK TRANSFORMER T503. (PCB-MAIN) D520 PART #264P102020 R540 (1.2 OHM 1/4 W) PART #103P398010 5. CHECK FOR DEFECTIVE IC401, PART #272P239040 ( PCB-MAIN) 6. CHECK R540 1.2 OHM 1/4 W OFF PIN 5 OF FLYBACK (PCB MAIN). 7. EXCESSIVE 130V SUPPLY. CHECK C911 47 UFD 100 V AND C914 47 UFD 50 V, IN THE IC900 CIRCUIT.

If you are not technical then you should call a factory authorized service dealer and an estimate, as you can see this can get complex.

Good Luck, big IRISH.
