connections? at the battery posts are good? power available at starter relay? car is in park or neutral? now you need to verify theres power on the start wire. the small trigger wire for start enable. if a test light or voltmeter wont show power during crank, then it may be theres a problem in the neutral safety. it has to know the trans is out of gear. newer vehicles have mlp sensors instead of neutral safety switches. its time to get a service manual and determine the pinpoint test for this vehicle

I have a 2000 dodge ram with the 5.9 engine is not getting fire.i have replaced coil, cap, rotor button, and wires. possibly an ecm prob?

check the camshaft position sensor inside the distributor. remove the distributor cap. take a volt meter and use either a paper clip or a small pin to insert into the back of the distributor connector (yellow wire). connect the positive side of voltmeter to yellow wire. rotate engine with starter until the rotor is pointed toward the rear of vehicle. with the ignition on( engine not running) the voltmeter should say 5 volts. if there is no voltage check the voltage on supply wire . with the key on there should be approximately 8.0 volts. if voltage is presant, install the probes of the voltmeter into the signal wire (tan/yellow) and crank the engine over to observe the voltage reading. the meter should read 5.0 volts indicating that the ignition signal is pulsing properly. if the camshaft sensor fails either test (replace it).

I have a new ignition switch with sol, bat, and acc on the back the wires consist of yellow with red stripe, purple and orange what goes where please. this is on a 2.5 litre omc engine.

You will need to use a voltmeter to test the wires. Ground one side of the voltmeter and check the wires with the other. One of the wires should give you the constant positive voltage. This wire should go to bat. Using the positive wire you found above check to see, by touchiung other wires to the 1st wire, which will give you ignition and which tries to "start" the engine. My educated gues would be that the purple will be your starter wire which will go to the sol, the orange will go to acc, and yellow with red will go to bat.

Tv keeps turning itself off

You most likely either have a faulty power supply or high voltage transformer that is failing. You can test them both with a voltmeter or multi-tester. The capacitors on the newer sets seem to overheat and burn out quickly

Replacing old thermostat with new digital

Wire nut or tape the black off. The red is normally 24volt supply power to the t-stat. Blue may or may not be the common. Have a voltmeter?

Installing newer radio in older truck

Hello zachary_reed,

What you need is an aftermarket wiring harness. These are made by Metra, Scosche, and others and are made to plug directly into the OEM radio harness. It appears that the one you want is the Scosche FB02B available from SonicElectronix. You simply connect the wires from your new receiver to the harness wires and then plug it into the factory radio plug. Another online retailer that sells aftermarket harnesses is www.crutchfield.com. Your local car audio shop or perhaps Best Buy may also have the wiring harness.

Be sure to match up the wires from your new radio harness to the aftermarket harness by FUNCTION, not by color. For example, most newer receivers will use Yellow as the 12V constant (hot) wire. The wiring color code for your F150 is shown here. Make sure that the pin on the aftermarket harness is connecting the yellow from your new receiver to the green/yellow of the OEM plug and so on.

Hope this helps.

My camera wont charge

1 Is the charger unit OK? Connect a voltmeter to the camera plug to test the voltage. While connected, wiggle the wire at both ends to test if it is broken. If not OK, replace charger unit.

2 Is the battery OK? Test battery voltage with voltmeter. Connect crocodile clip leads to the voltmeter probes and a good charger. (A cut paperclip can be inserted into the center connection of the charger.) Check that meter reading is positive, and then hold meter probes on the battery terminals, making sure polarity is correct! Voltage should drop immediately, and then start to slowly but steadily rise after after a few seconds. No change with a flat battery indicates battery failure. Replace battery.
3. If both charger and battery are good, then problem is with camera. There are no user serviceable parts inside the camera, and as with laptop computers, it will probably be more economical to buy a new product, and take advantage of the always cheaper prices of newer and better models.
