Please see the following blog article, as it describes the use of a card reader as a much easier, faster, and less error prone way to download your photos. In fact there are several important reasons discussed in the article for using a card reader vice downloading from the camera. USB Card readers are also very inexpensive these day, with cost virtually not an issue:

Other things to check, have you ever formatted the card in the camera. If not, these type of errors will likely crop up. Press function, go to your tools menu, and select the item stating your camera card's capacity and select it. Then follow the steps to format it. NOTE THAT WILL ALSO ERASE THE CARD, so make sure that you have first downloaded and backed up all that is needed.

Also make sure that the card you are using is large enough to hold a 6 minute video (such a video would be 600-700MB, or over half a GB.) If your card is equal or less than 512MB, then this is likely your problem. In this case would suggest purchasing a newer card, as 2GB and larger cards are very inexpensive these days. Be careful on purchasing such cards from Hong Kong vendors on ebay though. There has been a rash of false "overclocked" cards being sold there (may be labeled as 2GB, but in reality much less capacity).

Try using recovery software then to recover what's on the card. Copy and paste the following into your browser:

After you've recovered the videos, try formatting the card in your camera. If the camera doesn't want to format the card, it's probably faulty, and time for a new card. Recommend Amazon for SD cards as they have good deals, and are reliable.

All of a sudden the images my camera is taking look totally overexposed, is it possible that i switched some setting without knowing? why is there so much light in my pictures?

Yes, there is a setting called exposure compensation, which you may have altered.
Try switching the camera back to A (Auto) mode, and see if that fixes it.
In the manual setting modes, exposure compensation will look like this:
http://images.digitalcamerainfo.com/images/upload/Image/new/Photokina08/Canon/sd880is/photos/Canon-sd880is-menu-functionset-375.jpg
Make sure that you haven't set the exposure compensation to +2, for example. It should usually be set on 0.

I have a canon A590 is camera. When I try to upload pictures onto the computer and plug the camera into the computer nothing happens. The camera does not power on like its suppose to. Why is this? I know...

Your USB cable is fine, I use a generic cable with my A590 with no problems. Connect the USB cable to the camera then your computer, make sure that the camera is set to the view setting instead of picture taking setting and then turn your camera an. Your computer should then see the camera. This is the only combination that works with my camera.

Best regards,
Bob

I have a Canon PowerShot A590 - still pictures are very clear. I took videos several weeks ago and they were very clear, now videos are blurry

Did you change your camera video's settings? There is an option where you can set it to a lower definition, like for videos. To change, choose the camera setting "Video" Then, Press the Left Or Right Arrows.

Can i download video from canon a590 to pc?

Install and use the software that came with the camera. It's either ZoomBrowser (for Windows) or ImageBrowser (for Mac). This will allow you to download both still images and video clips from the camera.
