Put the sim card into the SIM slot of your phone and turn ON the phone. After some time, it will register with the network. You have nothing to do other than that.
If that doesn't work, wait for few more hours. Some network operators offer(Actually, nowadays many) instant connection while some network providers still take 8-15 hours or even more to register a new connection into their network.
If the problem exists for days, go to a service outlet of your network operator.
Check the card with another computer or using the camorra with card inserted. This lets us know the card is working and will store information. If the card checks ok, then go to the Laptop and look in the device manager for flags, while camorra is hooked up and turned on. If you find flags, remove them and reload drivers.
are u using an unlocked iPhone? I had the same problem with my iPhone 3g (ver 2.2.1). What you need to do is upgrade your Power SIM. I am using Rebel Power Sim v61. Its working fine now but it has only been a few hours.
I had the same issue, cleaning the contacts on the sim card did not help. BUT i went and got a new SIM, it did the same thing.. till i wedged some folded up paper into the sim slot on TOP of the sim card forcing it closer to the contacts. So far this is working for me atleast. good luck.
