Dish remote stays in vcr mode

Hi, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. I would be happy to help with any remote issues you're experiencing. Normally if the remote is stuck on VCR mode you would need to try replacing the batteries first. Once you have replaced the batteries you are going to want to press and hold down the SAT button until it lights up red and flashes after you release. This should put your remote back in SAT mode. If this does not resolve your issue you may need to readdressing the remote to the receiver. I will list the instruction here for you to do so. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions please let me know!

Instructions for addressing the remote to the receiver
  1. Go to System Info screen. You can do this by either pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver or by pressing the power button once and the channel up button once on the front of the receiver.
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button.
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

DIDN'T TAKE THE SELECT BOTTON TO WATCH TV AN MY 2ND TV.

Hi, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service here. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. The first troubleshooting step you are going to want to try is making sure the remote is in SAT mode you can insure this by pressing the SAT button once the remote. If the remote is in SAT mode and still not functioning properly you may want to try replacing the batteries if you already have not. If both options do not work for you then you are going to need to try readdressing the remote to your DISH receiver box. I will list here for you the instructions on readdressing your TV2 remote. I hope you find this information useful and if you have any further questions or concerns feel free to email me at Cheri.Torres@Dishnetwork.com.

Instructions for addressing remote to DISH receiver
  1. First you will want to take your TV2 remote to your TV1 location where the DISH receiver box is.
  2. Go to System Info screen. You can do this by pressing the system info button on the front of the receiver or pressing the menu button twice on the TV1 remote.
  3. Once you are in the system info screen you will see primary remote address (TV1) and secondary remote address (TV2).
  4. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  5. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.Change the number in the little white square to something different than what is already listed for secondary remote address.
  6. Press the pound (#) button.
  7. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful, the number selected in step 5 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.

Hey there, Cheri Torres with DISH Network Customer Service. I came across your post and wanted to see if I could help. It sounds like you may need to readdress remote to your DISH receiver box. The tv is jammed. Remote is fine but have pressed the wrong button

It sounds as though you might have just accidentally pressed a button and changed the remote into an incorrect mode for example, tv, or aux modes. This would in fact prevent the remote from successfully working with the DISH Network receiver. If this is in fact the problem, then the remote simply needs to be put into "SAT" mode, once its back in SAT mode you will then be able to change channels, select menu, power receiver on and off, etc. The "SAT" button is labeled & in the upper left hand corner of the remote to put the remote back in satellite mode, please just press that SAT once and then release, the SAT button should briefly light up red & then the light will go out, you should then be able to use the remote again, to ensure remote was successfully changed back to SAT mode, you can press select or any other button you chose & as long as the SAT button lights up when you press another remote control button- then your all set to go & everything should be working once again! I hope this helps -please let me know if there is anything else I can help you with!

My tv remote will not allow me to access the satellite

walk_alan,

Are you still having problems with your DISH Network remote? Which light on the remote lights up when you press the select button? If any button besides the SAT button, the remote is not in SAT MODE. Pressing and releasing the SAT button will put the remote in SAT MODE.

If the remote is in SAT MODE and doesn't operate the receive, then the remote may need to be readdressed to the receiver or the remote may need to be replaced. Do you have fresh batteries in the remote? If so, I have provided steps on readdressing the remote to the receiver.

Remote: All Other Remotes
  1. Go to System Info screen(depending on the receiver, you can press the "System Info" button, or pull the smart card out from the receiver till the "System Info" screen appears on the TV)
  2. Hold down the SAT button until all mode lights light up.
  3. Enter a number between 1 and 15 using the numeric keypad on the remote.
  4. Press the pound (#) button
  5. Once the SAT button blinks three times, press record. Note: If successful the number selected in step 3 will appear in the System Info screen under Remote Address.
I hope this helps.
