Try switching to RESERVE, as it should be mechanically operated, rather than vacuum operated.
If that works, test the vacuum operation on the petcock.
You can try sucking your brains out on the vacuum line going to the petcock, or apply a vacuum with something like this:
When you do this, have a line going from the petcock to a catch can (gas can), and see if fuel flows under vacuum.
If that works, with bike running (petcock on RESERVE), pull vacuum line at petcock, put a finger over hose opening, and feel that it is drawing a vacuum.

Hi... if you have vacuum cabs... Have you checked to see if the vacuum on the fuel tap is working correctly.. Take the fuel pipe of the carbs, put the fuel tap to on.. If its a vacuum tap there should be no fuel coming out. Put the pipe in your mouth and suck on the pipe, if fuel comes out then stops it seems to be working. Also check the diaphragms in the top of the carbs are not split or have any pin holes in them. You can do this but holding the diaphragm up to the light.. (If they are vacuum carbs).. You can aso check to see if the carb rubbers are leaking between the carbs and the engine.. You can do this by starting the bike up and leave it ticking over. Get some carb cleaner or WD40 and spray it onto the rubbers between the carbs and engine. If the engine pics up speed (revs go higher) then the rubbers need to be changed.. Hope this helps you out...
first i would look for a vacuum leaks get it as close to idle as you can when cold and spray carb cleaner around and also check to see if the egr valve is stuck open this will act as a vacuum leak but not detect as one spraying carb cleaner around carb cleaner with change the engine speed near a vacuum leak
hello sir, my machine will only start when pumping primmer bulb or squirting fluid in the carburetor than stops. the fuel line has broken off, in most small carburetors this is a ongoing problem.old fuel will crystallize when left in tank for a long time.plugging up ports, fuel lines, small screen in carburetor.fuel lines will dissolve clogging carb.this is why it will run when the choke is on creating a vacuum to where there is fuel forced in the carb to rum,also the gas will evaporate leaving the oil behind clogging up carb.the thing to do is remove carb. and clean out,replacing gaskets or fuel line if necessary.use carb cleaner to clean out carb.make sure to make note where fuel line go.the fuel filter broke off of fuel line letting debris get in carb plugging it up.the muffler is known to clog up a lot on these machines where they want run. the compression should be 60 to 120 lbs any thing below 60 is junk. when adjusting the carb screws turn in all the way than turnout 1 1/4 turns turn in slow until machine runs also you need to check for spark by removing plug and grounding against engine to check spark, ok.a new spark plug would be a good ideal too , if you are going to make these repairs use new fuel line and filter,hope this helps,any comments welcome,thank you, ff
Simple-open the gas cap and try to start it. I have had the gas cap vent fail in Honda street bikes and prevented fuel flow. Also, I believe this bike has a vacuum operated shut off valve. Though they normally don't fail, if the vacuum line connected to it is leaking it won't open. You may have accidently misrouted the hoses during carb removal. The valve will be inline before the carbs if it has one.
If the bike will run with the choke on then you have a lean fuel/air mixture condition. Most common cause is a vacuum leak or faulty pitcock. Spray some carb cleaner around the carb mounts with engine at idle, if the rpms change there is your leak. Your
petcock should have two hoses attached to it. One hose is the main flow
to the carbs. The other hose is/should be a vacuum hose that allows the
gas to flow (when vacuum is applied). When your petcock is in the PRI
position, this will bypass the vacuum hose. Leaving it in PRI when
motor off could possibly flood the engine. Check to see if that vacuum
hose is attached properly with no splits or cracks near both joints. If
all is attached properly your problem is the petcock itself. It has a
diaphragm and 'return' spring. Weak return spring, clogged petcock,
damaged diaphragm can all cause your problem. Also, after you recleaned and inspected the carbs, were they synched... if not, this needs to be done. Good luck...i hope this helps..please rate me a fixya.
Try truning the fuel tap to 'RES' when it starts bogging. Seems like fuel tap on the tank does not flow fuel properly. Check if the tap flows fuel when vacuum applied. This will only solve high rev bogging problem. Harsh idle seems to be another issue.
When you bought the carb, did you buy the same one or did you get a bigger one? You can always get some bigger jets than the ones it came with. Also wondering if your screen in your gas tank is plugged. How much fuel is getting to carb? I would empty out gas, take out the screens and make sure pitcock is wide open. Also you can always adjust air/fuel ratio screw on carb which may help a little.
your carb. is flooding the cylinder when its not running.it will cause ring damage.turn your gas pitcock off when not in use.get carb cleaned &adjusted.
