Add a Comment The letters in blue which I want to click via the blue "Fn" key are different to the letters marked on the keys. For example instead of the "?" i get an "_". I tried to add a english keyboard because it is a german IPhone with normally a QWERTZ keybord and the wireless keyboard is a QWERTY type. Whta settings have to be done?

I found the solution. I have to switch to an english softkeyboard. Than the right characters will be shown when clicking the blue FN keys.

SOURCE: keyboard Fn key

Try hooking up and external key board see if that works ok, and if it does you may want to try to find a new or used key board for your laptop. The key board may be shot, It should be fairly easy to change to a new board, Hopefully That will help you diag. the problem..

Press Fn + Numlock. You have the number lock on, but laptops don't have a number pad. So it re-assigns these keys to overlay some existing ones. Once your number lock is turned off you should be ok.

Just download this :) It will fix your problem. If it doesn't work, just search for Toshiba Value Added Package Vista/XP (that depends on what Operative System you've got) and download for your Operative System.

How do I Pair Bluetooth keyboard bt8a

Hey there,

I bought the BT8A "bluetooth mini keyboard with touchpad" several months ago.

I succesfully managed to connect it to android and windows by pushing both
the blue "Fn" (function) key at the bottom left corner and
the corresponding blue operating system ("Android" / "Windows") at the top left corner
for three times.

Im not sure if you have to let go of the "Fn" key or keep it pushed only once and stay on it. While pushing it push 3x the operating system key.

Btw: the manual doesnt say anything about the connection / pairing procedure.

good luck.

Where is the switch on my laptop that turns on wireless receiver

Your functions key on the top of the keyboard will have a blue antena icon on it. Most of the time its F9. You will also see a function key on the bottom left of the keyboard, a blue "Fn" key.

Press Fn and F9 (or the key with antena) together. Your wireless will be on.

Below is the image of the Notebook keyboard, the key to be pressed in highlighted in Red.

You state to hold the fn, and hit the power button.....OK, whats the ( fn ) key ?

The Fn key is a key found usually on the keyboards of portable computers (laptops, netbooks etc) and sometimes on desktop type keyboards.

It is a key usually marked with a blue coloured "Fn" and is located somewhere on the bottom left row of keys.

The Fn key is used in combination with other keys that have (usually) blue letters or icons on them to activate the special functions (Fn) on these keys.

For example, on the laptop I'm writing this on; If I press F5 the computer would perform the action my software has normally assigned to F5. If however I press the Fn button and F5, the computers internal function for decreasing screen brightness is invoked.

Different computer makes have different assignment to their keyboard Fn so you can't generally say press Fn+F5 to decrease screen brightness, it might be assigned to something else, volume or sleep-mode or even nothing. The "blue" text or icon will give an indication of what it will do.

Hope this helps explain the Fn key ;)

Some letters of the keyboard wont function especially the backspace.

Try this.
It stumped myself and some true experts once. We were having problems with the keyboard in a darkened room.
There is a Function ( "F" or "FN") key on the lower left of the keyboard. It's labeling is often blue in color. In low light conditions, you cannot see the blue coloring. It is used to turn a section of the keyboard into a calculator. That section will have dark blue numbers written on the keys that change function. For example the K may have a dark blue number 2 written on it. In other words, When you type the Alphabet you come up with some numbers substituted for letters and not all of the keys may function. Give it try.
Best Regards,
Mark

I need an explanation as to the secondary function of the keys on my NB305. Mainly the top row of 'F' keys, but the remainder of the keyboard as well. What do all these little symbols on the keys mean?

F1 through F12 are called function keys because they execute programmed functions when pressed. Used in combination with the Fn key, keys marked with icons execute specific functions on the computer. The function executed by individual keys depends on the software you are using.

1. Sound Mute: Pressing Fn + ESC in a windows environment turns sound on or off. Press Fn + Enter to simulate Enter or the enhanced keyboard's numeric keypad. 2. Instant security: Press Fn + F1 to blank the screen to prevent others from accessing your data. To restore the screen and original setting, press any key or press the Touch Pad. 3. Power save mode: Pressing Fn + F2 changes the power save mode. 4. Standby: When you press Fn + F3, the computer enters Standby. 5. Hibernation: When you press Fn + F4, the computer enters Hibernation. 6. Display selection: Press Fn + F5 to change the active display device. Hold down Fn and press F5 again to change the device. 7. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F6 decreases the display brightness in decrements. 8. Internal LCD screen Brightness: Pressing Fn + F7 increases the display brightness in increments. 9. Wireless setting: If your computer has both Bluetooth and Wireless LAN functions, you can press Fn + F8 to select which type of wireless communication you want to use. 10. Touch Pad: Pressing Fn + F9 in a windows environment enables or disables the Touch Pad function. 11. Press Fn + F10 or Fn + F11 to access the integrated keypad. When activated, the keys with gray markings on the bottom edge become numeric keypad keys (Fn + F11) or cursor control keys (Fn + F10). The power on default for both settings is off. Press Fn + F12 (ScrLock) to lock the cursor on a specific line. The power on default is off. 12. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (reduce): To reduce the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 1 key while holding down the Fn key. (13. TOSHIBA Zooming Utility (enlarge): To enlarge the icon size on the desktop or the application window, press the 2 key while holding down the Fn key.

Our Asus notebook, model US0F, manual is very brief. We need explanation for dual function for marked keys. i.e. numeric 3 key/pgdn & 1/end

On the bottom-left of the keyboard is the BLUE-coloured 'FN' key. Hold the FN key down (just as you would hold hold the SHIFT key) and touch one of the other blue-labelled keys, and release the FN key.

Where is the delete button on a french keyboard!

In wordprocessing or email the backspace key deletes the previous charachter and isnot the same as the Delete key which deletes the next charachter.

On my girlfriend's french pc the delete key is marked "Suppr". It works to delete the next character and also for the "executive override" function which will reboot an old pc or get you to Task Manager in windows.

I cant get the keyboard letters to work that have the blue numbers on them without pushing the fn blue button in the bottom row at the same time

that is how the function keys on some keyboards work. Other keyboards have a key that says Fmode. When this is pressed then the blue keys will work all the time. Other than that the Fn key needs to be pressed at the same time as the function key you are using.

The fn key acts much like the shift key on your keyboard,,it is used to access the extra key functions which will be marked or written in blue on your key's.
They are supposed to be there.
