It wont let me dowload a update

Go to this page and download the file manually. You can then burn it to disk or transfer from USB.

The new update that the xbox is doing today ,,,it tells me to test my connection , my connection is good and working just does not go all the way across the last part of the testing bar but is connected...

I fixed mine by going into System Settings, Network settings, then running a test on xbox live. Initiating the test logs your profile out then runs a network test. The test completed with no problems and then asked me if I wanted to update again. Without logging back into my profile I clicked OK and the update ran without a hitch. I think the solution lies in the fact that my profile was logged out and from what I have seen, the only way to connect to xbox live without a profile being logged in is with a network test. Once you connect to xbox live it senses that you don't have the update and asks you again, this time without a profile logged in and you are able to do it.

My xbox 360 console wont go online. Everything goes thru when i go to the family settings into the network connection . During this process at the end befor it completely goes thru it says an update is...

You may have started to download the update and have an incomplete file transfer stuck on your hard drive. Go to the "My XBOX" row where your game would launch or your avatar hangs out and go all the way to the right to the settings or preference screen. Select (highlight it, don't press A and enter it) the hard drive or memory stick where you have downloaded updates before and you should notice that at the bottom of the screen you have A for select, B for Back and then the Y (yellow) for clear system cache. press Y (If you have tons of demos and **** that your kids can't go without (oops, that is me) back up the important ones just in case and scroll through and look under "system updates" and see if you can see one that has the yellow triangle with the ! in the center. If you find that right away, just delete it and exit out to then press Y for clearing the cache. Get any USB flash stick or the last time I think I used my little digital camera with the micro SD chip and a USB cable and go to:

http://support.xbox.com/support/en/us/nxe/hardware/console/troubleshootingconsoleproblems/updateconsole.aspx

select the option for download your update to USB or disk if you have that option. Save the update as the guide tells you and then install it through the USB port instead of XBOX Live.

If that failed me, I would remove my hard drive and wireless/Ethernet connection to where the avatars and all personalized info no longer shows up and return back to the "settings" window and do the initial set up, power down and replace your hard drive/storage. Just to make sure that you aren't being firewalled or blocked by a new update or something, try to connect to like the media player or go to "network settings" window and watch to see if that green bar goes from the Xbox, through the router and lights up the Xbox live icon. Updates or not, you should still be able to see that you have the resources to make the connection.

Hope I helped but my kids are waiting for me to solve the "I didn't mean to stick the Tech Deck into the USB ports and short out the whole media center" problem here- so hope that I am not to vague.

One last thing, if you have low storage for the update and that is why the download isn't happening, you can always re-download what you delete or move some of the larger saved games to a flash stick until you are up and running again. Don't forget that you can connect the XBOX to your PC and then just have the troubleshooter from the above link run an automated "what the heck is wrong" scan,

Good luck to you.

**Troubleshooting

Having problems getting the update? Look for solutions below.

The update through Xbox LIVE fails part way through

· Try using the simplest connection possible:

If you have a wired connection: Temporarily unplug everything from your router, except the cable to your modem and the cable to your Xbox 360 console.
or
If you have a wireless connection: Temporarily turn off everything that's connected to your wireless network except your Xbox 360 console.
Now connect to Xbox LIVE and try updating your console software again.

· If you're using a wireless connection, try switching to a wired connection. To do this, plug one end of a network cable into the back of your console, and the other end into a port on your router or gateway. Now connect to Xbox LIVE and try updating your console software again.

· Follow the directions above to copy the update to a USB flash drive or to burn a CD or DVD.

All of a sudden when we start Call of Duty world at war it says there is an update for the game. Chose update and it then says that it cannot download the update and signs out of xbox live. You cannot not...

check playing with this disc on any other Xbox 360 connected to live, ideally the disc should not have problem since the problem you are facing could be with saving or downloading of the specific update required to play game online on xbox live which is mostly related to updated playlists.

If it still does not work, try erasing the saves for this particular game from your Xbox 360 HDD in case you are okay to forego the game progress / XP gained for the offline campaign play.

Xbox 360 Wireless controller wont turn on

Right, just keep plugging in the charger into the controller until the light stays red, the small amounts of charge put in each time will eventually give the battery enough juice for it's built in 'memory' to be clued in as to how much power is really in and will then start charging. This is usually caused by leaving your controller unused for a while usually days or so at room temperature after fully charging it in your xbox (i.e. the battery memory 'thinks' it's full and tells the xbox as much when really it's empty)

Cant download the update

See if your test connection is "open" if it is not then it is your provider and will have to change. Typically schools such as uiniversities block xboxlive because it takes up bandwidth.
Please post further detail about your problem, thanks.
