you probably will need to update the firmware

2. Use an archiving software (Winzip, WinRar, 7 zip etc.) to extract the Firmware Update package and export it to your computer's local disk (ex. C:\)

What's the next step in rebooting a xoom after the screen with the robot horizontal and a red triangle on it? The menu that's supposed to come up doesn't appear.

Yikes, I'm sure this can be frustrating. I'm here to help however I can. Let's try to reboot your Xoom. While the device is powered on please press and hold the Power button and the Volume up button until the device starts to reboot. You can then let the buttons go. If that doesn't work, then I recommend restoring your device to factory settings using the external keys. I have provided a link with steps on how to perform the factory reset: How do reset my Motorola XOOM to original settings.

Thank you,

Kurio 4s need help

You can perform a reboot by holding the volume + button and power button at the same time. Release the power button after 5 seconds but keep holding the volume + button until a screen appears with options. Press the power button to select reboot. Next you will have to scroll down using the Volume + button again to highlight yes and press the power button to select. If the reboot does not work, you many have to perform a factory reset using the same steps except you have to use the volume + button to scroll down to the factory reset option. Hope this helps.

Locked out of a hkc p776a a tablet

Recently my daughter locked her self out so I had to spend lots of time trying to figure out how to hard boot it and we all know Internet is limited with info on how to fix this. I figured it out so here it is.
first you got to try to figure out the password 5-10 times then plug it in to your charger and make sure it charged up 100% and try a couple more time then power it down. After it is powered down turn it on the sec you see the hkc symbol let off the power button and push and hold the home button it should take you to a dead android with a yield sight over it you can then let go of the home button when you see this symbol if you don't get this repeat till you get the android. Once you get this then continue on to this next step push the power button down and hold and tap the home button you have to be quick with it don't hold the power down for more than three sec at a time. You can use the home button to scroll down and the power button is used as enter go to the factory settings hit enter and scroll down thru all the no to the yes and it will reset and then you tap on reboot and exit and it is back to factory hope this helps

This can be caused by a number of issues most have to do with the router itself and not the tablet. First, let's make sure the router DHCP Server is not frozen so take the following steps:
Step 1: If the router is separate from the Cable or DSL Modem, power down the router/wireless, next power down the cable/dsl modem. Power up the cable/dsl modem wait 60 seconds then power up the router/wireless wait 2 minutes
Step 2: Try to connect to the wireless
Step 3: If you have a modem or wireless router supplied by Comcast, Verizon, AT&T or any major carrier, contact them asking them to walk you through resetting and rebooting and updating the firmware to the router/wireless.
Step 4: After the reset and update try to connect, if it fails move on
Step 5: Log into the wireless/modem - let's change the wireless encryption. Go to the wireless settings, change the wireless settings to WPA Personal and add any pass-phrase. Try to connect using the new pass-phrase.
Step 6: If you still can not connect, as a last resort switch the wirlesss encryption to WPA for testing. Try to connect, if this works contct the vendor and have the modem replaced.

Onda v711

You need to perform a hard reset on your Onda V711. Here`s how: You can perform a hard reset by booting into a special recovery mode. First, ensure your device is fully shut down. When the tablet is turned off, keep home button pressed.
Now turn on tablet while still holding the home button.
When white android figure appears, release both buttons.
You will get into recovery mode, you can select "restore factory settings" there.
If that fails, try flashing new firmware.

Mid m729b will not shut down

A bit late but FWIW, I had this problem. I eventually just moved any data I needed to a safe place & fully reset it.
To reset, hold the power button & volume up button simultaneously. It should boot to a screen that tells you what to do next. I think they ask you to keep holding the power button for a reset. Do that & you'll see a big old 3D Android figure & a blue progress bar. Give it a minute & it should eventually load. After that I got a screen that said it was "updating" & gave me a percentage countdown. It finally booted like normal to factory settings. All of my data was gone but it now turns on/off like it should.
