I think magic jack relates to your sound driver/device. I would try removing and re-installing your sound driver. If you let me know your model of computer or sound card I may even be able to provide a download link for the drivers.

Will this cost me money?when I start my pc a smsll window says, the installer failed to exit a running instance of magig jack

Try Press CTRL...alt ...del..together and hold them down

This should switch everything off. Pull the power plug. Pull the battery off.
Wait five minutes and power it on again.
If your desk top comes type "system restore" in the search menu next to start. Follow the link to the calendar which should pop up.
Restore back to a previous time when it was working properly

How do I install my magic jack usb dongle and get it to work on my MS Surface running 8.1 RT

Your Magic Jack won't work on MS Surface with RT because Magic Jack is made to run on Windows. If you had Windows Pro 8.1 then it wouldn't be a problem. What you can do is install your Magic Jack to another computer. While you are away, you can remotely connect and control that computer (assuming you leave it on) with an App called Remote Desktop. This will let you hear the sound and use your mic from your tablet to make those calls. Good Luck.

How To Install magic jack in window 7

Hello,
First, from the magicjack device copy the magicjack folder to a CD or to a floppy under an earlier version of windows, (Windows 7 does not recognize the quasi CD that is on the device). Be sure that the Magicjack device has been upgraded to the latest firmware. Start Windows 7 Plug in the Magicjack device. (The Windows 7 drivers will load). If a window for magicjack vista pops up ignore and close it. Be sure to be connected to the internet. Run the .exe file from the media that you placed the copy of the magicjack files on, or copy the files to your hard drive then run them. Magicjack will upgrade. After this you only need to click on the Magic Jack icon to activate the device (of course, have the device plugged in).
Like Magic! It works. Thanks

2. Start it the no splash way to make it to load "C:\Users\UserName\appdata\Roaming\mjusb... ck.exe" /scf _magicJackPersonalDataRoot X:\magicJack

PLEASE HELP ANYONE! I WENT INTO THE ADD/REMOVE PROGRAM SECTION WITHIN THE CONTROL PANEL! I THOUGHT THAT DELETING THE WINDOW SECURITY UPDATES FROM 2007/2008/2009 WOULDN'T CAUSE A PROBLEM, BUT IT...

Yes there is an option that you can use to restore deleted files. Its called System Restore. You did not provide any information about your Windows version so the procedure may be a bit different.

From XP onwards the System Restore option is found: Start --> Programs --> Accessories --> System Tools --> System Restore. You can also access it through Help and Support by typing System Restore in search bar.

Try restoring your Windows to a date where it worked fine. Try the most recent date before you started experiencing this issue.

You should also check if the Magic Jack is working OK by plugging it another PC.

If System Restores fails, its better to backup your data on D: and reinstall Windows than to keep looking for a solution. This will save you time and frustration.
