Question about Sony Playstation 3 (PS3) Console
My PS3 is hooked up to an AOC monitor via HDMI. I have a pair of headphones plugged into the back of the AOC monitor in the headphone port. When I turn on my PS3 I can hear the Orchestra start up music, and am able to hear the clicks as I navigate the menu. I am able to hear audio during playback of Blu-rays, but absolutely no sound when playing any type of video game. The audio just seems to shut off when I play a game. When I exit the game and go back to the PS3 menu, sound is then returned. Any suggestions?
It may be the game options or the system options may be set to something else than speakers

A 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
The service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.

You most likely have the updated drivers. You may have to go and change a setting. I found an answer on the PS3 website that may be of some use to you. I hope this helps you: http://boardsus.playstation.com/playstation/board/message?board.id=ps3&message.id=1662191 From the site: "go to bd/dvd setting and set the "108024hz" option off"

SOURCE: PS3 wont go 1080i/720p
I don't think there is a way to set your resolution manually, bro. They do it all by auto. If I may make a suggestion... Turn off both the TV & PS3. Unplug your HDMI, then make sure both your TV & PS3 are turned ON. Now re-connect your HDMI. A TV tech once told me that these units "communicate" through the HDMI. This can only occure whilst they're up & running. This may help get you going on to 1080i.
p.s. PS3 games only output 720p, max! This isn't always the case for Blu Ray movies, but it is for games. Good luck!

Mine just did the same thing two days ago. i have been researching the internet about this cause im not about to spend 150 through sony. anyway what is going on is there are two seperate diods in the laser compartment, one reads blurays and which is also ur games because they are consetered blueray also, and the other diod is for regular dvd and music cds. sounds like the blueray diod has took a ****. To get that part you have to order a new laser which is 150. youtube will show you how to change it. looks very easy

Did you ever figure out how to fix this. We simply took our system and hooked it up to a different tv and it stopped. I personally think the problem is with the HDMI cable and wether the cable and the socket are connecting.
