Question about Frigidaire Affinity ATF7000E Front Load Washer

Open Question

Frigidaire Affinity Front Loader retains water in Fabric Softener

It is clearly a design flaw, if you examine the Fabric Softener Dispenser tray, it is incapable of draining down completely following a cycle. The engineers, for the sake of simplicity, decided to use a momentary jet of water to force the fabric softener into the drum at the apropriate cycle. This introduces the softener to the drum well enough, however, what remains behind in the Fabric Softener dispenser, is a pool of water. This is a problem however- Obviously the water DILUTES the next charge of softener by virtue of occupying the tray, causing the overage to escape prematurely! The engineers eliminated a costly valving apparatus by doing it this way, however, they SHOULD have incorporated a means of evacuating the dispenser at the end of the cycle. A short burst of air would have done this. Its surprising such an oversight could have escaped quality control, because it wastes a portion of fabric softener by dumping it into the wash cycle, AND it defeats the whole purpose of having a built-in measuring gauge in the dispenser!

SOURCE: fabric softener dispenser won't drain the fabric softener.

Not sure if you already did this, but try pulling the face plates off inside the dispencer and take it to the sink and run very hot water into the "stand pipe" that projects off the back of the face plate to make sure they are clear and no old crusty products are in the hole.. Then put them back in and push down hard and make sure they are fully seated.
If the plates are loose and not seated or clogged, there will be little or no siphon effect to draw the fluids out of the dispenser. At least thats how it seems to work
Also, if you pull the top off the washer, there is an adjustment on top of the dispenser to adjust the dispensing ratios I believe.
I just did that procedure the other day on my machine and the wife said it works good now.
Let me know it it works for you, I was wondering if it was just a coincidence.

Front loader. Why doesn't fabric softener dispenser empty?

It can be two things. First, what is left in the dispenser? If its the fabric softener, then the water valve may be faulty. The water valve will have multiple feeds and the fabric softener might be bad. If its a combination of water and softener, then the dispenser might be clogged. You can remove the slide out tray and clean it. Look for build up of fabric softener that might be there. Good Luck?

Fabric softener drains out, but pumps water back into dispenser after draining?

Hello friend, thank you for allowing me to assist you!

It is a normal operation to receive water inside the dispenser after draining. This is part of the siphoning action of the drawer. You would just remove the drawer and empty the water out, then reattach the dispenser drawer. I hope this is helpful. -Matt

After the wash is finished in my frigidaire affinity ATF8000FS, I noticed that the fabric softener remained in the dispenser. ????

You will need to open the dispenser and clear the internal channels out.
There is a service manual available that shows you how the internal dispenser works if you should need it.

Frigidaire washing machine fabric softner will not dispense out

Hello - There are several things that could cause the fabric softener to not dispense into the washer. Are you sure the liquid in the dispenser after the wash is fabric softener? If it is fabric softener, the solenoid that lets the water into the dispenser is not working. This solenoid is located on the back of the dispenser. It only gets voltage during the dispense time and fills the fabric softener dispenser with water. The fabric softener dispenser fills while the washer is filling for the rinse cycle.

When the washer begins to fill for the rinse cycle, the fabric softener solenoid is energized and water flows into the fabric softener dispenser cup. When the cup is full the water siphons out and softener and water flow into the tub.

If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is pure softener you may need a technician to diagnose and repair the problem. The voltage will have to be tested to the softener solenoid and a volt meter is required.

If the liquid in the fabric softener dispenser is water you probably need to clean the dispenser cup. **** will build up in the siphon tube and stop the liquid from going into the washer tub. The incoming water will dilute the softener and overflow the dispenser cup and run into the tub. The instructions for cleaning the dispenser should be located on page 43 of the use and care guide that came with the washer.

If you don't have the use and care guide these instructions will help. Open the dispenser until it stops. In the left rear corner of the dispenser, there is a release that is labeled push. Press down on the push area and you can slide the dispenser drawer out.

Remove the insert from the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Clean the bottom of the insert and the bleach and fabric softener compartments. Reinstall the insert and put the drawer back inside the washer.

To test the siphon action slowly pour water into the fabric softener compartment. When the water level goes above the maximum line stop pouring. The water should all drain out.

Hope this information proves to be helpful however if it is ineffective please contact a professional to move forward accurately.

The fabric softener dispenser is not emptying after the cycle has completed.

When cleaning the softener chamber, make sure you remove and clean the syphon tube thoroughly.

This is the only chamber designed to handle liquid. Otherwise, check that you have sufficient water pressure and that the cold valve opens fully. If you dont hear a decent gush of water during the rinse cycle, it's either pressure or the valve.

I have a Fridgidaire Front Loader Washer _ Affinity. It has an error message flashing. E10. What does that mean? What do I do to fix it?

I have a Fridgidaire Front Loader Washer _ Affinity that flashed the E10 error code. I also had the problem with the fabric softener dispenser not emptying, and staying full of water. The problem was the cold water filter on the back of the washing machine that was semi-plugged. Cleaned the filter and now works perfectly. My machine is no longer flashing the Error code 10. The dispenser works perfectly.

Fabric softner

Remove the dispenser tray. Inspect the area just above the fabric softener portion of the dispenser. There should be a series of holes where water feeds into the tray during the rinse cycle. Sometimes these holes become clogged with fabric softener residue. If the holes are clogged, water will never dispense the fabric softener out and it will stay in the tray. If you take some cotton swabs and meticulously clean all the holes out, I bet your problem will go away. Let me know if this was helpful to you.
