I had many problems with the disc recorder on mine.contacted Alesis, told them the problem & they sent a list of places to have it repaired. Your CD drive needs to be replaced.

Replace the CD drive. It's an easy job, similar to replacing an optical drive on a computer, and there's guides all over YouTube and the web showing you how. There's an online list somewhere of compatible drives, you should google this to ensure you buy the correct type.

DVD drive read/burn problem

From the description the new DVD driver is defective and should be returned if still under warranty. The only concern that I have is the replacement you got is identical to the original and that it is not a aftermarket product, because they don't have the same specifications as the original.

The laptop burned a disc, then ejected as usual. Another disc was place in the tray, inserted as normal but this time a cd was unable to be burned because the laptop did not recognize the disc or any other...

The automatic ejection takes place when the burn process has completed successfully. Have your tried another writable CD or DVD? If your laptop is not recognizing any more writable CDs/DVDs, then the problem might be a failed CD/DVD drive. Otherwise, it is probably a bad CD or DVD.
Hope this helps.

Hi mine is Acer Aspire 4520. I was playing movie from a DVD yesterday all fine. I left it inside the drive. Today I found that my DVD Ram device has gone bad; it's showing all empty space in whatever...

Can you suggest which OS you are using?
Does this problem exist for all the CDs/DVDs?
Try to insert bootable CD and try boot from it and check if it works.
You can try blank cd and just write it using NERO and check.

The pc won't burn cd's seems like it doesn't recognize cds or dvds

Does the cd/dvd drive read cds? This is a good test to ensure that the drive is functional.

Sometimes, generic cd/dvd burners do not recognize certain types of blank discs. Try another type of
brand blank discs, it should work.

CD drive wont read blank or music CDs

It sounds like the drive is ready for replacement. It may be that the laser lens is dirty so the drive never detects a disc, or it's gotten too weak from age and use. Replacement drives are very cheap, so the best thing to do is replace the drive. You can get a DVD burner now at Newegg (www.newegg.com) for $25.99.

Sony VGC RB53 wont recognize blank writeable cd/dvd's

Insert a blank CD, try to burn something on to the disk, if that is successfully done than the CD drive is fine, unless you have a problem. Sometimes blank discs don't show up with direct click.

Replace Tascam DP-01FX/CD -- the CD R/W won't work

I don't think there is a problem with your CD writer.  You have not inserted the type of disc your write drive requires.  You must use a BLANK "AUDIO CD-R".   Check your instruction manual concerning the type of disc required.  Data CD-R's will not work in this type of drive.  if the disc has "DATA CD-R" or "700"mb or "800mb" printed on it it will not work.  audio CD-R's are not as common and are a bit more costly.   They are the only type of disc that will RECORD in your drive.  Regular audio CDs should play in your drive.  I hope this solution will work for you and I wish you every success! Device Won't Recognise Blank CD-R Media or Certain Music CDs.

try and see if you can pull a directory using explorer,, sometimes if you record to the full 80 minutes capacity, the disc will return an error,,,even if you recorded it on that drive...also i know this may sound strange but on the drive tray itself take the mount where the laser is mounted and extend it out to the furthest travel point ,,,gently,,,do not force...load the disc, and see if it is now recognized,,,sometimes it is a timing issue, and this way the tray/laser recalibrates itself....
