I have a 40in sonybravia KDL 40v4100, 1080p. No hdmi and audio w

I have a 40in bravia 1080p. the component 4 slot has both hdmi and audio. The problem is when i use my laptop and plug audio and hdmi into the tv i only get the video, the audio only works when the Hdmi is not hooked up. component 4 is the only slot that shows i can use Hdmi and audio. When i try to hook up audio in another component slot i have to choose another external device selection so i know the audio works. Audio and Hdmi are not working together. Is there another way to hook up so i can get hdmi and audio and watch my videos. Am i missing something?
Thanks in advance

HDMI is a video AND audio cable. It carries both at the same time. Typically with a laptop, you have to go into your audio settings and indicate HDMI audio enabled / set ON or whatever your software has. If you use a VGA connection, then you would use a separate audio hookup say from the earphone out on the laptop to the VGA's audio input port on the HDTV. Its all in the settings on the HDMI capable laptop.

Sony BRAVIA KDL-40V2500 audio not working

I would Google the model number carefully for "problems" "no sound" and usually this set will display some kind of error code===it may even have a hard reset to try===service manuals are available on the net/web to allow you to see how the sound circuit is set up etc.

Hi, Just bought a 26" sony bravia tv. I don't use cable or satillite. I just need to find out what kind of cable I need to connect my panasonic DVD player to the TV and which port do I plug it into?

The best quality would be a HDMI cable, if your DVD player has a HDMI port on the back.

Any of the HDMI ports on the TV can be configured to take the audio over HDMI (digital audio) or over a separate rca stereo patch cable (menu option in the TV for analog audio).

So if your DVD has HDMI, just buy a HDMI cable and you're done. If you cannot figure out how to switch the audio input, there is no big harm in just installing a separate RCA patch cable between the two for the sound.

The next-best would be a component-video cable (Red/Yellow/Green) RCA cable, with a separate red/white RCA audio cable.

Alternately, if your DVD has a S-video port, that is comparable to component video. Then you would need a separate audio cable as well.

Last but not least, if your DVD player is ancient, it may only have a yellow video out connection, then red/white for audio. You then just need a standard yellow/red/white RCA component cable.

Audio cuts in and out

Had the same problem with mine. Took off HDMI cable and used the HD cable (Red Blue and Green) for video and standard (red and white) cable for audio.

Got your post, I will work with the model #s. Get back with you soon. Also a tip for now: HDMI carries true digital video and audio so you may not need the optic cables.
