Is their any way you can revert back to the old version just to see if it still happens. Its prob something wrong with the update. I would also try to call AT&T to see if anybody else has reported it as well. They also might be trying to fix that problem if others have reported it. I cant think of anything else, especially if you have the screen to time out after 30 seconds

Hi,
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repairmen in the US.
the service is completely free and covers almost anything you can think of (from cars to computers, handyman, and even drones).
click here to download the app (for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
goodluck!

When we start our Android it comes on the screen going off and on constantly never staying on long enough to select or watch. It just goes off and on. tried everything your our last Hope. Thanks Janet

is it a tablet ?
could be a flat battery - may be the charging cable is faulty
- may be units battery is faulty .
I had a tablet with a faulty battery that had reached the end of the battery life span
. Shop told me I could not get battery replaced as tablet was a sealed unit !
However I managed to work out how to pull tablet apart and replaced the battery myself.
This may be beyond your capabilities if it is the battery as I am an electronics technician.

Other option
settings of tablet
screen saver timeout value may need to be increased to like 3 minutes if it is on 10 seconds .

Also may find advice from a store the sells the unit.

My galaxy s5 screens stays on all the time unless I push the button to turn it off. It never did this before, how do I fix it

Try *Settings* *Display* and make sure the box in the *Smart stay* item is NOT CHECKED. This may or may not be it depending on if you continue to look at it or if you place it close to something where it thinks you're looking at it.

If the above isn't checked, you could try selecting *Screen timeout* and change the minutes. Try changing it to 15 seconds, then set it aside and see if the screen goes off after fifteen seconds. It might be that for some reason the timeout is no longer registering and resetting it might get it to time out again.

One other thing. If you have some kind of a screen protector film on it make sure it is clean and has no scratches in it or moisture under it. If the screen thinks it's being touched it won't time out.

If neither of the above does it, I'm at a loss to think of what else it might be. Good luck.

Check the "engage" switch. If it is shorted, it will drain the battery.

My Motorola Defy will not hold a charge. Had full charge at 8:00 Am and by 2:00 PM battery was dead. No apps running or Wi-FI on. Second day in row this has happened

The DEFY is feature-rich and can run a virtually limitless number of applications, making it useful for many tasks. Your particular usage will affect how long you can go before recharging your battery. Playing games, running applications, and surfing the Web increase the power use of the computer-like functions of the DEFY Calling and texting utilize its phone functions. Depending on your use mix, time between charges will vary. We know you want to use the device to its fullest and offer you these tips to help you get the most from your phone while going as long as possible between charges.
Things you should know about charging your battery.

New batteries are not fully charged. Plug the battery charger into your phone and an electrical outlet. Your phone might take several seconds to start charging the battery.

Tip: It may take several charging cycles for your battery to reach optimum performance.

The battery charger shipped with this device is designed specifically for Motorola mobile phones. Other chargers might take longer to charge your battery, or cause your calls to fail during charging.
Tips to extend battery life:
  • During initial set up of your MOTOBLUR account, your phone's battery may drain faster than usual due to the amount of data transferred. After the initial sync, and a few charging cycles, your battery will reach its maximum capacity.
  • We strongly recommend to keep the phone attached to the charger during the MOTOBLUR initial sync.
  • When not transmitting a lot of data or surfing the Web, set your device to connect to 2G network.
  • When setting the phone down after use, quickly press the power key to invoke a blank screen. Selecting a shorter back light duration will also help conserve power by blanking the screen when not in use.
  • Lower the display brightness.
  • Use the AC adapter to charge your phone whenever possible.
  • Toggle Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and GPS on or off as needed. There are some apps that can help do this easily. While we do not endorse or guarantee these solutions, or provide support for them, some owners have reported success using an application called "Battery Widget " which can be downloaded from Android market.
  • Ensure applications are closed when not in use.
  • Clear all notifications from the notification bar as much as possible. Click Here to learn more about notifications.
  • We suggest charging each night so you start the day fully charged and ready to go!

Motorola DEFY Battery Manager - Benefits

A feature called Battery Manager is now part of the DEFY software

  • It provides options for significant battery savings by reducing data traffic when not needed, and by dimming screen when battery is low.
  • Two optional settings:

Data Timeout

· With this feature: After a period of inactivity, background data updates stop until the user starts using the device again.

· Without this feature: background data is constantly updated (Email, Social Networking, News Feeds, etc.), even overnight.

Auto Brightness

· When Battery Level gets low, screen automatically dims.

Battery Manager: How To Use It

To access battery manager

  1. From the home screen press the menu key
  2. Tap settings
  3. Tap battery manager

Three Modes are available:

  1. Performance Mode (default) - Data Timeout and Auto Brightness are OFF
  2. Smart Mode - Data Timeout and Auto Brightness are ON with different settings during Peak and Off-Peak times of day. User can change various settings.

  3. Battery Saver Mode - Data Timeout and Auto Brightness are ON with settings to maximize battery savings. User cannot change the setting

Hi, my bb9000 consumes battery very fast please advice what should i do in this regard?

Instructions
    • 1 Turn off your wireless and Bluetooth when they are not in use. If you leave your wireless settings on, your phone is constantly looking for a wireless connection, even if one isn't readily available. This eats up battery power. Touch "Manage Connections" from your home screen and select "Off" for wireless connection. Then turn your wireless on when you know a connection is available.
    • 2 Close applications when you're finished using them. Leaving applications running uses memory and battery power, especially if those applications send you frequent notifications, like Facebook. Once you're done using an application, use the Blackberry button and select "Close" at the bottom of the menu to close the app completely and avoid notifications until you open the app again.
    • 3 Use your applications wisely. If you're running short on battery life, it may not be a good time to run Google Maps or other applications that use a lot of battery power. In general, battery-consuming applications are those the need a constant internet or data connection and cause you to receive frequent notifications.
    • 4 Change your vibrate notifications so that they occur less frequently, and use audio notifications when you can. Vibration actually uses more battery life than a ring tone. While you may need to put your phone on vibrate when you need to use your phone discreetly, shortening the amount of vibration notifications you get can conserve battery life. Choose "Options" from your home screen, and then "Sounds and Ringtones." Choose "Ringtones" from the drop down menu and select the type of ringtone you want. To decrease the volume of your vibration -- and therefore the power you use -- press the volume buttons on the side of the phone when the phone is in vibrate mode.
    • 5 Decrease the backlight timeout, which keeps the keys on your Bold lit for a specified amount of time after you stop using them. The shorter the timeout, the less battery power you'll waste. Visit "Options" from your home screen and then choose "Screen/Keyboard." Adjust the backlight settings so you only have three to five second before timeout and the backlight shuts off. You can also use the settings to dim the backlight to use less power.

Hp laptop 9720us screen wont brighten or dim. last week my screen went blank brought it to a shop they changed the inverter and also some cable connection . works fine just not quite as bright as before ....

You got the wrong inverter fitted - i'm sure your unit requires a sinle lamp inverter and they have cheated - putting in a generic lamp inverter and branching togeather the wires to accomodate the single plug thus reducing the available volatage for the lamps - this is why it's dim - correct part is 431391-001 Display panel power inverter - For use with single lamp display panel
