It depends on the size of the cake. I make a syrup sponge cake that contains 4oz flour, 4oz Sugar, 4oz Butter and 2 eggs, with a layer of syrup in the bottom of the microwave bowl. It usually takes 4-5 mins on maximum in my 800W microwave.

Pinched this off the internet . Method Baking a Whole Cake in the Microwave.
  1. 1 Mix your cake batter. In a large bowl, combine 3/4 cup softened butter or margarine with 3/4 cup sugar and 2/3 cup flour. Stir together with a spoon or rubber spatula.
    • You can use regular flour if you don't have self-rising, but you cake will end up more like a brownie in texture.
  2. 2 Add in the rest of your ingredients. Pour in 3 tablespoons of milk. Crack in 3 medium eggs, and add 1 teaspoon of baking powder and 1 teaspoon of vanilla extract.
    • You can use whole, fat free, 2%, or whatever type of milk you prefer.
  3. 12Edit step 3 Flavor your cake. For a chocolate cake, add 1/3 cup cocoa powder. For a vanilla cake, add another teaspoon of vanilla extract.
  4. 13Edit step 4 Mix together. Stir well with a fork or use an electric mixer to mix for about 4-5 minutes or until smooth. If you have a food processor, you can also add all of your ingredients to the food processor for about 60 seconds to mix instead.
  5. 5 Spoon your cake batter into a microwave safe dish. This is very important! Never use a metal baking pan for microwave baking.
    • A shallow dish will probably give you the best results.
  6. 6 Bake your cake. Cook your cake in the microwave for 3-4 minutes on full power. The cake will bubble and puff in the microwave just as it would in the oven, and just as it starts to set (it'll still be jiggly), it's done.[2]
    • Check to see if your cake is baked by sticking a toothpick straight down into the center. Your toothpick should come out clean. If there is gooey cake reside on the toothpick, put your cake back in the microwave and cook it in 1 minute increments until done.
    • Take care not to overcook. If you microwave your cake for too long, it will dry out.

i use the micr-convention mode to bake and preheat it at 200 C ,the cake rises unevenly and falls unevenly .i open to check if the cake is done .why does it rise unevenly and why does it fall ?

There are two shelfs in oven keep the cake in the top part of the oven and keep the consistency of the cake normal and do u use milk in ur cake if u dont then use 1/4 cup milk .

You should be using convection mode first of all. It's not clear from your post if you are. Also looks like you're oven is baking at higher temperature than it says. Try 170 degrees for 13-14 mins instead.

Firstly I would suggest contact Electrolux for more info.
But in general all cakes are baked and no microwave energies are used.
An oven timer is critical to avoid over-baking.

Method of baking a cake in Microwave


I hv got a ifb microwave oven 23sci with powergrill and i have tried baking cakes half a dozen time and every time it gets burnt. The sides get baked and the central zone is unbaked. MY method is , I take a glass utensil and put the cake mixture into it and put the same into the ifb oven, then i select the microve+conventional mode (200*) and bake it for 12 minutes. Can u guide me so that my cakes have a better future hence forth.
