any switch or dimmer wires as follows:
never cut ground or common the standard is white. black is standard hot or positive. cut black wire and attach wires to connectors or wires on dimmer. green wire, earth ground, would attach to green screw or housing.

A word of caution here.If the wires are ,old, faded cut etc, please consider REPLACING them.
Replace ALL the wires with new ones as wires matter a lot in a car stereo .
