Either contact the radio manufacturer or your local BMW dealer. Usually the dealer can tell you the universal code if it is a factory radio.

There should be a display. OE radios tend to use the car's general purpose computer display.
If there is a code It is likely to be an OE product and the code and audio manual (and spare keys) should have been passed on by the previous owner. If such things are not with the car the resale price should be considerably lower reflecting the trouble and expense not having such things can cause subsequent owners.

If the previous owner cannot or will not help I suggest you contact your local VW dealer.

Radio Codes

A dealer will have this code based on the Vin. How ever if you have the original owners manual it should be in it.

I had that happen with an Acura. The dealer can give you that info...but...some of them charge a fee for the info.

Hi i need a radio code.just purcahed this radio but previous owner has no clue where he can find this code.It is came out from a 2010 vw cc the radio rcd-510 premium 8, The radio # vwz4z7j1138319h

That type of radio/stereo is designed to be "theft-proof', which means that the radio/stereo does not work when removed from the vehicle. The unit may need to be re-paired/reprogrammed with your vehicle, from your vehicle's dealer.

But, it's possible that the dealer where the VW was purchased can assist you. Ask the previous owner.

Hope this helps.

I have a 1992 bmw 325i.The stereo is not working.

you need the anti-theft code for the radio....the radio should safe theft lock or something similiar to deter theft.....unfortunately you will need to pull the radio to get the serial number off the radio and than beg and plead with the dealer to give you the code without paying for may want to check the owners manual for the radio code......some past owners sometimes will write the code in the book......

The radio will have to be removed from the car dashboard

.Then please quote the MAKE + MODEL of your radio plus ALL the LETTERS and NUMBERS on any LABELS , BARCODES or STAMPED IN THE METAL CASING.

Also quote the MAKE of CAR it is fitted into.

Please note: Not all stereo codes can be calculated from the Serial Number

If this stereo is a clarion and original equipment and uses a a four digit code. First thing you do is with the power on to the radio, push and hold the band button for a few seconds until you see the word "code" on the radio display. Input the code and radio should work. If that doesn't work, then if you have tried to input a wrong code several times then radio will lock out. So what you need to do is
the radio has to be on for one hour uninterrupted, then you can do the band button procedure , code input again and hopefully the radio goes on. Hopefully this helps. Please advise results

actually your radio has an antitheft system to prevent thefts to use it, but most of the times the previous owner will know the code or he might wrote it down at the owners manual,
or you can try to contact the dealer some times they will be nice and just give you the code, but you nned to be ready with the vin number of the car, and the serial number on the radio in order to get the code from the dealer, but if you have a friend or relative with auto repair, they wiil call the dealer, in most cases they have very good erlation with auto dealer.
