Hi I am Vortash you seem to have the startings of frame collapse , now depending how good the picture is when it is ok that should give you a rough guide to if it is worth it .. A 15 year old telly may not have the parts available any more especially if it was a custom frame Ic .. I think I would get a free estimate done first then , weigh up the pro's and con's repairs are not cheap nowheredays so I think it is purely down to what you can aford and remember it may have other faults waitning to happen after all it is 15 years old and has served it's time regards Vortash

That is correct. Sony has extended their warranty on panels for this model until Oct. 31st 2012. Just give Sony a call or simply take your set to an authorized service center and you will get your set fixed for free.

My 15 yo sony tv. model KV-27V55 picture has gone blank and no sound either. Is it worth fixing or trashing?

Cost for repair and the part isn't worth it old chap, especially when the holidays are coming around the corner and retailers are hurting for business.  Why not get a lighter LCD or plasma tele with better 1080 resolution then stress over trying to save this old dog? Off to the heap with it is what I say.

Our Panasonic television has a deep green appearance all over, it is an older TV, don't know if it's worth getting it looked at and fixed or not.

TV's over all have a life span of 10 to 15 yrs, sounds like a problem with the picture tubes, could be biasing or the one of the tube their self''s.

Picture going in and out

What is the make and model number? The symptom you are describing is very common on Mitsubishi projection sets, but since you did not say what kind of TV you have, I cannot tell you what is wrong yet.
