Hmm.  The most common cause would be a battery that's not recharged.  This could happen if the power supply you plug into the wall has blown an internal fuse.  When plugged in, before turning the laptop on, there should be an indicator light showing that there's power coming to the unit (and another indicating the battery is charging, if it's not already fully charged).  You might try borrowing somebody's compatible power supply to check this (most laptops charge with about 18 volts, DC).  Replacement compatible power supplies can usually be had pretty cheap by checking on Froogle or the like.

Other possibilities are pretty ugly.  Like a BIOS setting got changed to something incompatible with your hardware (pressing F1 or maybe Esc or Del when turning on the unit would get you to the BIOS settings).  Or a memory chip got fried.  Or the CPU chip is overheating because its gotten a little loose from its heatsink.  Or the hard drive has developed a bad sector or corrupted data where the boot sector is located.  Describing exactly what appears on the screen (and any peculiar beeps) during the few seconds its on could help sort out these possibilities, but you'd likely need an in-person geek to fix any of these possibilities.

Best wishes,

If the system turn on and off and again on automatically, sometimes the problem is in GMCH. ie in the graphic chip. There are other reasons also. You have nothing to do unless you are a chip level technician. Contact me if you are. Make a reply for this because I will get satisfaction by it.

Hp pavilion dv6633 won't start. Light up, then

Sorry to here about your DV6633 start up problems.
1st. It would be good to know any other problems you may have had in the past either related or non related to you current problems..
I take it you are running with a charged battery? and the unit has not been dropped lately.?
2nd. If you are receiving a charge light on the front left of cover, your battery is charging and your power supply is in working condition.
3rd. I would remove any media from the CD/DVD and disconnect battery and with incoming power from supply.
4th. Flip unit over and remove the large Black cover, where you will find the Memory and CMOS Battery.
5ft. Carefully remove memory setting them side from contact with other components.
6st. Disconnect CMOS Battery found at the top right of memory. This is the battery backup for memory, system time and date and other features. This with have a white connector which connects to the board.
7th. Flip unit over and open case cover, hold down the power button for at least 30 seconds.
release the power button and close case. Flip back over to bottom again.
8th. Reinstall the CMOS Battery Connector, memory, cover.
9th. and last of all the Smaller Black Cover just to the left is where your Hard Drive is located.
remove the two screws and cover, on the Top of the Hard Drive you should see a Plastic Pull Tab to remove the Hard Drive.
Remove the drive carefully it is frag-il. Re-seat the drive and re-install cover.
Turn the unit over, re-install the battery, plug it in an turn it on.
Pressing the F-10 key will enter the BIOS setting, here you can change the time and date.
Note if you have not been prompted to change Time and Date, you did not remove CMOS battery.
If the unit will run in the BIOS setup, your problem is more than likely software related.
You should have a Utility for checking Hard Drive which in most cases takes about 1-hour, unless you have a failed hard drive, this will show in most cases within the first five minutes because the boot sector is the first and last to be checked by the utility.

If all checks OK you may want to reload your firm and software to factory specs.
This can be done buy hitting the F-7 Key at the start up. ( That is, if you haven't deleted the recovery partition.)
Good luck, keep the unit off the carpet and Bed as it will not vent or cool properly.

Hp pavilion dv9000 blue lights on won`t boot stuck just cli

Sounds like the harddrive went bad.
Some people call it the click of death.
Put the laptop to your ear near the harddrive and you will hear the clicking coming from there.
Good news is that it's easy enough to change the harddrive.
Bad news is you lose all your data to this point.
I hope this helps and i'm sorry that happend to you.
