Hardware alarm 0253-131-000002-3790-1500 After warmup this flashes on the screen.


The hardware alarm you are seeing on the 2265+ indicates the printer is experiencing a "horizontal task error" ie the printer is not able to move the print head or is not able to detect the print head is moving, things you can check to resolve this problem are;

  • Remove the ribbon from the printer, ensure this is not jammed or damaged
  • Power the printer OFF and try manually sliding the print head from side to side, look out for any objects which may obstruct the movement of the print head (pen lids etc!)
  • Ensure the print head gap is not set to close to the paper, thus jamming the print head
  • Remove the paper to ensure the paper is not restricting print head movement.
  • Clean the Optical Timing Strip that runs under the print head, ensure this is not damaged also.
  • Clean the carriage shaft, this should be FREE from any lubricants WD40 etc and dry running. Remove build up of paper dust etc.

If the problem persists it is likely the printer has developed a fault, check the following

  • Worn or damaged timing strip
  • Worn or damaged carriage shaft
  • Fault timing sensor
  • Faulty carriage motor
  • Damaged print head cable
  • Incorrectly connected print head cable
  • Faulty interconnect board
  • Faulty Main Board

On my mfc 260C the black ink print keeps fading to nil but is ok each time for about 20 pages after pressing the ink management button. No problem ever with colour print.


You may need to run the cleaning fuction on your printer to clean the black print heads.

Every month (once a month), you need to clean your print heads to prevent your heads from clotting.

You are now seeing the symptoms of what happens when you do not constantly maintain your cleanliness of your print heads.

If that does not work, try buying a new black cartrige to see if the original black cartrige is defective.

If the above does not work, you may have a failing carrage and may need replacing

But do all of above first and get back to me with what happend during your diagnosis of your issues.

I'm using an iMac G5 with an Epson an Epson RX595 printer. Everything worked well for a long time. Now ... the printer just shoots paper through constantly without printing. I've re-installed the newest...

the nozzles of the printer might be clogged by dried inks thats why when your printing, its feeding the paper, as if its printing but no inks on the paper. print a nozzle check to see which part or color have clogs, if there are gaps or breaks, do head cleaning untill no more gaps then try printing.

Red light constantly on and not printing. changed


do you print CD or plain paper, red light is mean jamed paper or change cartridge. Open the top door >press drop ink symbol> look at printer head show on ink ink tray.

I have lines going through everthing i print.I changed the cartridges,deep cleaned and calibrated and still have lines


I own a Kodak 5100 All In One Printer. The print quality is fantastic. The printer features are very good. There is a problem, lines through the prints in my case indicated a failed print head. Kodak has been wonderful in replacing 3 print heads thus far while my printer is under warranty. Be warned, these print heads cost $70.00 each, what you will pay for the head after the warranty expires. In constant communication with Kodak, there does not seem to be a resolution to the high failure incident rate of the print heads. It is a shame that such a great printer would have such a high rate of print head failures.

These error codes indicate a problem with the mirror motor circuit in
the printhead assembly or the mirror motor cable to the system board
cable or system board assembly. Check the continuity of the mirror
motor cable connected to J5 on the system board. If incorrect,
replace the cable. The voltage at J5-7 measures approximately
+24 V dc. If incorrect, replace the system board. If correct, replace
the FRUs in the following order:
• System board
• Printhead assembly

Nothing will print


5 times The print head is not installed [1401], or it is not properly installed (EEPROM data of the print head is faulty) [1403 / 1405]. Install the print head properly, and close the access cover. Or, with the print head installed, turn the printer off and on. This might help
