Question about Copystar CS-2114 Copier
"Our copier started blinking replace unit" you need to replace the PROCESS unit...not the toner, and you surely don't need to go pokng around the back of a live copier with a multi-meter!!! I just relaced one for a customer, they are the blue things where you open the front door. They were available in june of '09, e-mail me and I'll get you one (don't know price off-hand) and tell you how to reset the unit once replaced.

The toner hopper motor was modified for this problem some time ago. Was this one updated? There was a tech bulletin on it.
If it was, you will have to bite the bullet and replace the DV unit.

I had the same problem, and replacement toner cartridges are expensive. Also might need to change the drum. Copier is rigged to detect a new cartridge and the copier will soon stop copying at all. The blinking light changes to a steady light, and it will make no more copies. Solution: If you are still getting good enough copies try t his: I took the back cover off. At the bottom right you can see the back side of the toner cartridge connection (5 wire plug as I recall.) I grounded the negative on a multi tester to the copier frame and tested each connection for voltage with the positive probe and found none. Then I tested the bottom two wires, grey I think by sticking the neg and pos probe from the multi tester in them. Still nothing, but funny thing; the copier replace unit light went out and it makes great copies again!! I was in simulation mode while I was doing this but am not sure if that was necessary or not. Do a search on CS -2114 and you can see where a tech tells you how to do it. I think it started working again because I fooled it into thinking I had put in a new cartridge. Some cartridges are rigged so that
a fuse blows just after they are inserted, new, into the copier, and this tells the copier brain that it is a new unit and it resets. Some how, just fooling around sticking probes into that toner connector, I was able to accomplish the same thing. Try it; definitely not hard. Hardest thing was getting that back cover off as there is a turn screw thing at the top that blocks it. I just cut out the plastic around it so that t he cover would come off. Good luck. Save you a few hundred dollars.
