did you try to fix the forward problem by oiling it? That would be my first choice. The Forward and reverse switch would be my first thing to check to make sure the switch is working. Next would be the actual motor to see if it's getting power to go forward.
Oiling it won't fix the forward problem unless it was somehow stuck which would be unlikely since it goes in reverse.
Sorry I couldn't give you more help with this.
In forward operation, a detector senses the presence of material in the feeder and turns it on. Reverse operation is selected by switch position; no sensor is involved. I would bet that if you remove power and turn the shredder upside down you will find bits of shredded paper clogging your shredder, particularly in the center area where the detector is located. After thorough removal of debris, you should be back to normal operation
Inside the shredder there is a motor which is wired to run both forward and backward, the way it does this is to transfer the power from the switch to a couple of wires on the motor
The forward running motor will be linked to the auto start button which will tell it to work with the paper sensor.
When you select the Forward function the Auto Start is taken out of circuit and the Forward switch should supply the motor
After all of that I would say that the switch is open circuit on the Forward contact and needs replacing
I have the Infoguard SX100M Axeus, sold by Staples. Only the reverse was working, UNPLUG and open back cover, the paper mechanical switch was working fine, red side switch, the gears and fuse were all ok, I think something on the circuit board was fried. I switched the BLACK and WHITE wires with each other going to the shredder motor, thus when I switched it to reverse, it would go foward and shred. Its working now, only in reverse.
