What laptop do you have? You may need to update the BIOS if it's an older model. What OS? (XP, Vista, Mac, Linux?)

If your laptop will give your WD a drive letter, you can run chkdsk (Check Disk) from the Run prompt to verify that the drive does not have damaged sectors. many times chkdsk will fix minor errors allowing you to access the drive again.
Click Start, Run CMD, enter, then type: X: (X being the drive letter of the Seagate) then type chkdsk /r and hit enter. If it completes 100% try accessing the drive again.
If you cannot acquire a drive Letter when you plug in the WD drive, try going to Disk Management and assigning a drive letter.
Click Start, then Right click on My Computer and click Manage, then click Disk Management. See if your WD drive shows up in the list. If it does, right click on the larger box on the right and see if it will allow you to assign a drive letter.

Another option you may have is taking the hard drive out of the WD enclosure and either connecting it as a secondary drive in a desktop PC, or installing it into another external enclsure USB device, and try again to access the drive.

If none of these options work, your last option is to contract a Disk Recovery Service to acquire your data. They are usually very expensive.

I'm looking for a driver for my WD3200ME disk. Thanks!

No driver is needed for an external hdd. It may be needed for older editions of windows (before xp).
If the error is "there is no such drive or path" then you should replace your usb ports (in the pc).

I have a WD3200ME external drive..My OS is vista and it cannot install or read my drive..there's even no installation being done.. i think the drive is missing..what should i do?

Hi there,

Below are my suggestions:

1. Use a different USB port.
2. Try a different USB chord
3. Try the external drive to another working PC, if it is detected, there's a problem with your USB controller on your OS.
4. There's nothing detected, it could be that resource addressing is faulty. Go to START > RUN and type "compmgmt.msc". Under disk management , right click on the storage that doesnt show a drive letter.. click on Assign letter and choose any letter near T to Z to be safe. Click ok and exit.

Hope this helps or gives you the idea how its done

My wd3200me is detecting but my content is not showing .I need the data back can u please help me

Search online for a professional "data recovery service".
For a significant fee, they will repair your disk-drive, just long-enough to copy your "needed" files to another disk-drive.
