My watchman oil sensor monitor has stopped working correctly although it has worked fine for the last 10 months. It now displays no echo. How is this corrected?

One of my customers had the same problem. So last night, I took it apart and found a cold solder connection on a coil that had white goop on it. Goop is usually put on coils to stop oscillations. This is probably an inherrant problem. If you tap the back of the monitor with the back of a screwdrive, it should start working for awhile. Take it apart and take the shield off and do the same till you find the loose component. Don't hit it too hard. When you find the loose component. If you move the component back and and forth, it should work and not work. Take the board off and re-solder the component. Put the board back on and tap it lightly and see if you got the right component. If not repeat the proceedure until it works or pitch it...

We have about 20 of these at work. Four of them went dark, to varying degrees, in the two years they were covered by warrantee, and were sent back to the factory for repairs. Since then, eleven more have gone dark. I finally got around to looking at them a few days ago. I have repaired five so far, and in every case it has been the same cause.
The capacitors on the inverter board are burning out. There are two 470uF, two 1500uF and a 1000uF that are not holding up.
Costs about 4 bucks for replacement parts at digikey; qtys and Part numbers are:
2 PN #493-1561-ND
1 PN #565-1664-ND
2 PN #P13124-ND
It takes about an hour, and minimal skill with a soldering iron to fix.

SOURCE: NO GUI displayed
I had a similar problem with my Denon 3808 after it had the protection circuit tripped. First all I would get is a blue screen with sound, then after powering the unit off I got the display back, but all of the on screen GUI menus were gone. I could tell that the menu button worked because display located physically on the recever worked. I reset/rebooted the system (follow the directions in manual) and everything came back. Be aware by resetting the system any customization you have done will be lost. Hope that helps

Its because the pioneer does not display menu options through hdmi. You have to hook up basic yellow composite to monitor out.
