No. A bad wire or a flat spot on the sender will though. The tank has a ground wire too. Check that. Check the fuse that powers the gauges too.

At startup engine runs rough with a white smoke out of exaust with a sulfur smell. . stops after tthe engine reaches op temp.

On a vehicle that old, especially with high mileage, the symptoms you describe are fairly typical of a failing head gasket. When head gaskets begin to fail, they will allow water to drip into one or more cylinders, which will burn off as steam when the car is first started. Check to see if you are losing any coolant, however small the amount.
If the vehicle has recently been allowed to overheat, near 100% probability that you will need to have the head gasket replaced.
If by "sulfur smell," you mean a smell of raw gasoline, the problem can also be a sticky startup injector... but less likely than the chance of a bad head gasket.

Does the 2001 Chrysler Concorde have an issue with the fuel gauge

A number of different makes have been damaged by too much sulfur in the gasoline. A malfunction of a unit in the refinery left a lot of corrosive sulfur in some gasoline and it corroded the fine wires in the level sensor. Do a Google search on gas gauge corrosion and read a lot

Gasoline gauge is erratic; does not show true reading

Most likely it's the sender unit inside the gas tank. Here's a quick test to determine if problem is your dash gauge or the sender unit. At the gas tank, unplug the electrical connector and use a jumper wire to ground the gauge sender wire on the car side of connector (not the tank side of connector). With key on the dash gauge should move to full, meaning your dash gauge is good, but the sender inside tank needs replacing. Check with Ford or a ford guy to see if your tank has to be removed from car to access sender unit. Some cars today have access panels to tank under rear seat.

My a4 just lost power as if the turbo isnt kicking in, does anyone no what it could be

The use of contaminated gasoline or gasoline with a low content of deposit control additives may result in one or more of the following conditions:
^ Excessive accumulation of deposits on intake valves, intake manifold, fuel injectors and combustion chambers. ^ Engine runs rough after cold start. ^ Excessive engine cranking time. ^ Hesitations while driving. ^ Rough engine idle. ^ Reduced engine performance. ^ Poor fuel economy. Conditions may be severe enough to illuminate the MIL in conjunction with storage in the ECM data memory of DTCs for misfire (example: P0300, P030x) and / or lean fuel system (example: P0171, P0174, P1128, P1130, P1136, P1138).
Technical Background
^ Condition may be caused by use of contaminated gasoline. ^ Condition may be caused by use of gasoline with a low content of deposit control additives. Production Solution
Not applicable.
Service
If use of contaminated gasoline is suspected:
Consider advising the customer to change gasoline source (brand/gas station). Contaminated gasoline may exhibit one or more of the following characteristics:
^ May have unique color and odor. ^ May contain undissolved water. ^ May contain sediments and suspended matter. ^ May appear cloudy and (after settling) may show signs of separation. Repair:
Gasoline additive G 001 700 03 or G 001770 A2 can be used for removal of existing carbon deposits from:
^ MPI engine ^ Injectors. ^ Combustion chambers. ^ Intake valves. ^ FSI engine ^ Injectors. ^ Combustion chambers. Tip: For removal of carbon deposits from intake valves of FSI engines, refer to TSB 2019948.
Mix the additive with gasoline directly in the full fuel tank following the mix ratio. For example, 60 ml per 30 liters gasoline, 150 ml per 20 gallons of gasoline.

03 jeep liberty gas gauge is sometime at empty and some time at full

This is a common problem with all cars, If you do a search on sulfur and fuel gauge problems you would find more info than I can tell you.

But basically you will need to replace the fuel sender in the tank to fix this problem.

The sender uses silver contacts and the sulfur is corrosive to it.

The sulfer in fuel changes thru the year and sometimes its extreme.

Fuel gage doesn't work

I went to a dealer, they replaced the fuel level sensor (p/n 19177712 SEN KIT 3.107 $118.62) with labor $270.00 for a total of $398.86 this appears to have fixed it for now.

khooper, in another forum, told me that "Chevron Techron Fuel System Treatment Plus can remove harmful sulfur deposits from the sending unit and a filmer agent that can prevent the deposition of said sulfur"

I also talked to another mechanic who blames ethanol for these deposits !

My 05 Trailblazer LT 2WD.
Erratic readings, and when the fuel level was below 1/2 full, the needle would sit on "Empty" with the amber light staying on.

1990 toyota camry gas gauge quit working

Either fuel sensor is bad or coated with sulfur residue from inferior gas. Try a can of Sea Foam gas treatment OR can of Techuron concentrate. Both available at auto parts and , of course, Walmart ! Add to full gas tank, drive 75 - 100 miles and see if all is well. If not, condide4 sensor change
