I am replacing the front brake pads, and have removed the old pads. I can get the new pads in place, but cant fit the caliper assembly back on the rotor. what am i missing?

YOU NEED TO SQUEEZE THE PISTON FOR THE CALIPER. IF YOU PUT A LARGE C-CLAMP ON THE OLD BRAKE PAD AND SQUEEZE IT TIGHT, IT SHOULD GO.

I need to replace the brake rotors and pads on the front of my 2008 Dodge Magnum SE. Is there anything special I need to know. Haven't replaced brakes on this new of a car before. Thank You

You'll need the Allen or Torz wrench that fits the locking bolts on the caliper so you can remove the calipers and you will need a caliper compressor to compress the caliper cylinders to install the new brake pads once you replace the rotors. I would have the Rotors checked to verify they need to be replaced before replacing them. It is possible you can save money by simply having them turned instead. $25 for each rotor is better than the normal $150 to $250 to get new ones.

How edo i remove the front brakes from my 2006

You will have to remove each front wheel. I recommend doing one side at a time so you can use the other side as a guide if you need a model for reassembly.

There will be two threaded caliper bolts that hold the caliper on. Remove those, and carefully pry/lift the caliper off its bracket. This is good time to inspect your rotors, and if they are really pitted or rusted on the surface where the pads contact them, have them turned or replace if economical to do so.

Before installing the new pads, you will need a good old C clamp to reseat the caliper piston back inside the caliper.

Its good to also clean up those caliper guide pins and apply a small amount of grease to keep them working right.

Then, insert new pads onto caliper and reinstall assembly back onto bracket.

NOTE: Be very careful when tightening those caliper bolts as they are very easy to break/strip, and you really do not want to "go there"

Your local parts store should be able to tell you the torque specs fort those bolts, or look it up on the net.

Once one side is done, do the the other one. After that, press the brake pedal several times and be sure you have a good firm pedal before going for the test drive.

Straight forward job. Remove wheels, remove 2 caliper bolts per wheel, check bolts, and bushings for wear/corrosion and lubricate, remove calipers, remove brake pads, push caliper pistons into calipers, replace anti-rattle clips, put new pads in, put caliper and bolts in, put wheels on. Start truck and press brake pedal several times to take up slack and you're done.
