if its watercooled jog rr the most likely problem will be the haed gasket leaking, these mopeds always suffer from that the gasket leak water into the combustion chamber and it starts briefly then wets the spark plug up and causes the spark plug to short out killing the spark.other than that it could be. carburettor jet blocked or the float in the carb badly adjusted .if it is the gasket leaking make sure you replace it with. genuine one or you will have the same problem again soon.trust me been there done that im a doctor.
Is the bike water or air cooled? If air cooled then it is possibly either an oil or fuel issue. If water cooled your water pump or thermostat may not be working.
Because the motor is not running, the water has stopped flowing through the system. The heat that has built up in the motor once you have stopped, shows on the temp gauge. If you start the motor, the cooler water that is in the radiator will now flow into the barrells and head of the motor and the temp. will drop.If you sit and run the bike without moving, the same thing may happen. There is no airflow over the radiator. Then the fans kick in..You don't have anything to worry about. You may get a slight water leak from the radiator if it is overfilled, but that will stop once everything is up and running. Hope this helps
This is a watercooled Pump. It is designed to run 24/7 without overheating. it is cheaper to run any pump for more lenghty periods than to cut it off and on every hour. the reason is the initial surge cost more than a constant running speed.
I have a 1998 Yamaha Exciter jet boat as well and am having a similiar problem. I just took it in today and the mechanic believes that it may be the oil pump failing which causes the pistons to stick and not lube the engine properly, thus causing overheating and eventuallly stall. The one motor sounds beautiful and the other sounds unhealthy. He checked compression and it seemed fine and it has new plugs. Maybe this is the same problem you are having...Hope this helps...
