Can't get it out of Hibernation...

Last night I was looking at photos on the computer and it went into hibernation right in the middle of the slide show. It was doing something with the Windows XP logo up and then my husband shut down the computer by turning the power off.  Now i can't get it out of hibernation, does anyone know how? Is it an F key or something?  Its got to be a simple fix, I just have no clue.  Please help!

Thank you,

Stuck in Hibernation.

First make sure to put all the memory back into it.
Remove the battery and try turning it on with just the AC adapter and tell us what error you get or where you it gets stuck so we can help you.

My HP compact nc6000 laptop went to Hiberating mode and i don't know how to fix the problem. If i could please get help that would be great. i just got this laptop yesterday. it was working but all of...

Hi Jessica,

Hibernation mode usually turns the computer off but saves any work. Then you would start it back up by hitting the power button, it will boot up and you log in like normal and the computer should be as it was before it went into hibernation.

If you can't get it out of hibernation by pressing the power button, try holding the power button for 5-10 seconds. The laptop may actually still be on, and holding the power button will cut if off. Once the computer is back on you can change the battery options(hibernation/turn off settings) in Windows by going to the bottom right task bar and right clicking on the battery icon. Normally you will have an option like "power saving settings", "battery settings". In this setting window you can turn off hibernation due to inactivity.

Let me know if you have any questions.

How to enable hibernation in Windows XP

Hibernation is a low-power mode that laptops use when they are idle in order to save power. A hibernating computer can come back up to ready a lot quicker than a computer that is completely shut down, but it only uses marginally more power while it is hibernating.

To enable hibernation, open the Power Options applet in the Control Panel. Click on the Hibernate tab (the farthest one on the right) and check the box next to "Enable hibernation." Beneath this box you will see the amount of disk space required to use hibernation. (This amount is typically about the same as the amount of RAM you have installed, because when the computer hibernates, everything in RAM is written to the hard drive.) If you do not have enough free hard drive space, you won't be able to use hibernation; delete some old programs or files that you no longer need in order to free up some more room.

Once you have enabled hibernation and clicked Apply, you can tell Windows when to use hibernation. Go to the Advanced tab (still in Power Options). Under the "Power buttons" heading, there are settings for different actions, such as closing your laptop's lid or pressing the power button. If you want your computer to hibernate when any of these actions are performed, just choose Hibernate from the drop down list. You can also make your computer hibernate manually by choosing Hibernate from the shut down options (Start menu > Shut Down).

Your changes will take effect as soon as you click Apply or OK.

How to start up faster, via enabling hibernation on your notebook.

Starting up much faster. When your computer hibernate, it stores whatever it has in the memory to the hard drive and then shut down. Once you power up again your computer come out of hibernation and return to it previous stated, and therefore booting up faster.
To enable hibernation on your computer do the following: On your desktop right click then go to properties, once in properties then go to Screen saver tab in there chose monitor power button. Once in the monitor power chose the tap for hibernation, then enable hibernation.

I have a COMPAQ computer and it went into hibernation and I cannot get it to come back on. What do I do?

Please press the Alt-Ctrl-Del buttons simultaneously to resume.

Also, try the power button to get the Notebook out of the Hibernation.

The computer will boot up and get you back to the state where you were last time and allow you to continue.

This will resolve the issue you are facing.
I will look forward to your feedback.

Hi my computor just recently went into hibernation mode and it won't turn to my original screen.I'll tell you what happend. It went to a black screen last night and i don't know if it crashed or not because...

when your computer boots up press F8 after the boot screen, its easy to miss the short period you can press this. This should prompt a screen which allows you to choose how to boot windows. Booting windows normally (without restoring hibernation state) or in your last good configuration that worked (it saves restore points pretty much every day your on it and will revert to that restore point) will be your best bets. Hope this helps, let me know if it gets tricky.

Thinkpad issue

You probably think it is going into hibernation mode when really your getting the black and blue screen(very dark blue) This is a result of your windows failing. Your windows has been corrupted and the fix is to purchase a new windows xp,7,or vista. If you purchased it from the store they should have you on warranty, But if it bootlegged you may have to purchase a new one.

Hope this helps ^^. Please dont forget to rate, Thanks

Mouse reboot!

many computers only come out of hibernation only when the power button is pressed. you;ll see something that looks like booting up, and the computer will load your memoery from disk of what was in memory when you went into hibernation.

standby is the state that can be woken up by a keyboard or mouse.
