Question about Schwinn Cycling

1 Answer

Ranger brakes I was replacing the innertube on my Schwinn Ranger, and one of the calipers on my front brake fell off. I was able to recover it as well as most of the bolts. I was not able to find the exterior nut, meaning that my brake-pad will no longer tighten or be fixed into place. Where can I get a replacement or substitute? TL;DR caliper thread missing! What do?

I don't know your location, but here Lowes has specialty hardware. Also there are hardware specialist that can match what you lost if you have the other gender part. In my location there is a business "King Bolt" that is a hardware paradise.

SOURCE: Where can I get replacement brake parts for 20

Any proper bicycle shop! They typically don't like to work on Wal Mart bikes but they can fix it.

Wal Mart buys inexpensive imports but there are probably lots of components to fix it with.

SOURCE: the brake pads fell off

The brake pads only need to be lined up with the braking surface to work. As far as keeping the bolts in place I would suggest a drop of loctite (blue) on the threads of the bolts to keep the nuts in place.

SOURCE: hello! I need a manual for a 1988 schwinn world

The owner's manual won't talk about that.

http://www.schwinnbikes.com/support/owners-manuals

If it's Shimano, go to http://techdocs.shimano.com/techdocs/index.jsp and find it.

What's wrong with the brake? Usually pads wear out (replaceable) or adjustments are necessary. I've had bikes for over twenty years and never replaced a whole brake for failure.

Use a search engine for video answers. "replace bicycle front brake caliper", for example.

How do i replace front brake hoses on 94 ford ranger

Here is a good forum to find your answer.

A few few things to remember: Purchase fresh new brake fluid and have a clean MityVac pump (both can be purchased through AutoZone, NAPA, Orielys, etc..) , plenty of clean rags, brake line clamps to stop the fluid from leaking when you initially pull the line off.
Be prepared to bleed ALL the brakes after changing the lines. When bleeding the brakes (after replacing the old lines) work from the caliper that is the longest distance from the brake master cylinder first to the shortest distance line.

The washer there should be a plain copper washer. Check that when you tighten the hose up that it is not twisted up and working loose .

What tools do I need for front brake replacement on a 93 v6 ford ranger two wheel drive?

I have honestly never replaced brakes on a Ford Ranger but front disc brake pads are fairly simple to R & R. You either need a large allen wrench or a socket and ratchet. The socket size is probably 14mm or 9/16. You can use the tire iron and jack for your spare to remove the lug nuts on the wheel and jack up the truck. You should really use a floor jack and jack stands. Either way keep your body and limbs out from under the truck. Usually there are 2 caliper pins or bolts to remove. pull off the caliper and use a "C" clamp to compress the caliper pistons into the caliper completely and do not use anything but a clamp or you will never get it to depress. Keep the old brake pad in there on the piston side as a buffer between the clamp and the piston and it will help evenly disperse the pressure on the piston. Lube up the pins before you install them or they will be a nightmare to get out again. Vent the system by loosening the cap on the master cylinder to make the piston easier to depress. Let me know if I can help any further. Please rate me on this answer.

How take off pins not bolts on caliper 87 Ford Ranger front brake

The pins / wedges just tap out use a scewdriver on the metal edge of the pin just tap it out to the rear and when putting them back in just tap them back in from the front. You will see they are diamond shape and metal cased around rubber very easy to do just take your time.

Dear Smoking And Locking.......
It sure sounds to me like you are having a brake issue on the lf of your vehicle..Obviously your lf brake assembly is not releasing. You could have a seized caliper, a restricted lf brake hose, a restricted brake line, or pad material that is unsafe, it's time to get those brakes inspected ASAP!!!! Brake repairs on that year of vehicle are fairly simple for the first timer....if you need any more help just get back to me ...THX HOPE I COULD HELP!!

Front Passenger brakes rubbing

Dis brakes have residual pressure thar keeps the pads in constant contact with the roter. It is very light contact, so not to worry. If left is not in contact with rotor then chk it for loose wheel bearings.
