SOURCE: dvd door keeps opening. Won't load dvd. Won't stay

It sounds like the electronically activated latch is physically broken. Does it close while the computer is off? If it doesn't close with the computer off and the battery removed, you have to replace the drive.
Just for the why not of it, have you removed the drive and put it back in? There should be a screw you can remove on the bottom on the side of the drive, just one, remove that and pull the drive out. Try closing the drive with it out of the computer. Take a look and see if you can see what's wrong, then put it back in, and put the screw back.
If it won't close any of these ways, consider duct tape, or some other way of manually latching or holding the drive closed so you can at least use it. If you physically hold the drive closed, it should be able to read a cd/dvd.

SOURCE: I purchased a battery from atbatt.com that said it

Hello.

Return your power adapter to Walmart and replace. I'd suggest taking the laptop with you to further test in the store with the adapter you buy. Be certain that the new power adapter is compatible with the specific Dell Inspiron notebook series that you own.

Hope this helps.

How do I add a 2nd independent monitor when a splitter cable does nothing but carry the #1 monitor display?

The rear of the unit has both an HDMI and a VGA output connector. If you have a digital-ready monitor with HDMI and a monitor with a VGA analog port you can run a cable to each. The on-board video adapter will detect the second monitor and support it. My computer has a VGA, DVI-DD and HDMI output and I am running THREE monitors off the onboard video.
