Question about Deco Breeze Fan. 16 in. Height Adjustable Pedestal Fan Copper DBF0209

1 Answer

Pedestal fan will not run.

Deco Breeze pedestal fan will no longer turn. Problem began when low speed would not start; then medium speed; then had to go to high speed to get blades to turn. Now it will not turn at all. Lubing helped for one night only. This was an expensive fan that I would prefer to fix, or have fixed.

The cost of repair probably probably will make replacement more feasible.

These run very small motors with low "starting torque" If the fan hasn't been run for a long time, its possible that it has jammed up or got tight from just sitting there. Being careful, turn on the fan and spin it in its usual direction by hand, it should start running. If you cannot spin by hand, it may have seized up which will require you to strip and lube the motor. If you manage to get the fan spinning , let it run on high fan speed for an hour or so, it should free up and then be OK again. A small spray of WD40, CRC or similar spray can lube on the fan shaft where it disappears into the motor may assist.

The top of the mixer began shaking and thumping when running, I realized the tilt head is pressed forward a little too far, causing the basic mixing attachment to press too far down into the bowl, maybe by...

Tip the machine upside down on a towel, centralise the hinge pin and tighten the grub screw that locks it into place. This is right up inside the pedestal, there is only one screw there to see.
Now stand it up and fit the mixing bowl & flat paddle, turn the machine on speed one, if the paddle is tinging on the bowl then we now need to set the head height. Turn the motor off.
Raise the motor up and from the front of the machine look in by where the motor hinges on the pedestal. You can see one screw head there. If it's tinging the bowl then you need to turn the screw anti clockwise enough so that the paddle no longer tings on the bowl.
Once it's stopped tinging put it onto max speed and make sure it still clears at high speed, if not turn the screw until it stops tinging. That's it.

Do you know where I can get a replacement knob that goes on the back for low, medium and high setting? It came off when I was moving and is difficult to turn without it (i use a screwdriver at the moment).

Only works at high speed

the barector resistance would have worn out or would have broken in the rheostat so change that resistance then you would see ur fan working in low medium and high speeds
