You might want to check with the hp support page for the 8600, there maybe an answer there, or instructions on how to run envelopes.

SOURCE: My HP LaserJet 4200 prints fine from tray 2, but will NOT print envelopes from tray 1. It WILL print on regular paper from tray 1, but will not print envelopes. What gives? I've already rebooted the

Are there settings on the control panel of your printer?
Is the tray 1 the MP tray? (The one that flips towards you)
If so, can you change the settings of the Tray 1 to Envelope on the control panel?

I hope this helps.

This is because the fuser is too hot. Go into your printer driver and instead of it saying "Plain paper" in the printing preferences section, change it to "envelopes" and it should solve the problem.

Smaller items will only feed crookedly into the printer document

Check to see if you are feeding the envelopes and 4x6 cards/photo paper correctly.

Both envelopes and 4x6 cards must be loaded and centered on the paper exit tray (not inside the paper input tray).

Printing envelopes:
  • Up to 15 envelopes can be loaded at a time.
  • The print side of the envelope faces down.
  • The envelopesare centered on the paper exit tray.
  • You print the envelopes with Landscape orientation.
Printing cards:
  • Up to 35 greeting cards, index cards, postcards, or photo cardscan be loaded at a time.
  • The print side of the cards faces down.
  • The cards are centered on the paper exit tray.
  • You select Automatic, Normal, or Photo print quality.

For images on how to correctly load the paper, download your printer user's guide:

Envelopes won't print

Whichever application you are using for printing envelopes must have a set up icon and set, in options, for envelopes

That will show in which position your envelopes will be, when being transported through the printer. Like, print side up, right side of transport, and like that.

Make sure you haven't bypassed this, and be certain that the pass through matches what the printer expects when printing envelopes

My Word 2003, when using an InkJet printer, expects it on the right side, print up. When using my color LaserJet, expects to see the envelope in the center, print side down.

I hope this helps,
-a.

Epson Stylus NX400 While printing envelopes, I keep getting a black ink blot on the bottom right hand corner of the envelopes. It happens to about every 1 out of 4 envelopes. I printed the return addr

Envelopes can give all sorts of problems Back corner is flicking up. Try rolling the envelopes in the opposite direction to the "bowing" as they have been through machine once.

Printing envelopes 4" x 91/2"

when you print envelopes you will have to select the paper size in the print options. There should be a pull down menu with every paper size and envelope size. Select the appropriate one, and be sure the envelopes are placed the right way when you feed them in. Most home printers work best when you manually feed the envelopes in. Its a tricky process, and you may have a few jams.

Here is a how-to for the printer, but I'm not sure if you mean the printer, or in a program.

Envelope Feeder is not accepting the command

> Home > Support & Drivers > Knowledge Base

Solution --> Phaser 4400 Printer: Printing envelopes

Printing EnvelopesEnvelopes can be printed from the optional envelope feeder, the Multi-Purpose Tray, or Tray 1, 2, or 3.
Guidelines for envelope printing
  • Use only paper envelopes.
  • Do not print on the back of the envelope.
  • Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces.
  • Keep unused envelopes in their packaging to avoid the effects of moisture and dryness, which can affect print quality and cause wrinkling.
  • Envelopes may wrinkle depending on weight and stiffness of the envelope.

Many applications include a tool for creating an envelope document. For example, Microsoft Word includes an Envelopes and Labels feature in the Tools menu. Be sure to:
  • Select faceup.
  • Clear Clockwise Rotation.
  • Select the feed method with the image centered and the stamp on the envelope to the upper left.

caution_image88x30.gif Never use envelopes with windows, metal clasps, or exposed gummed surfaces; they can damage the printer. Damage caused by using unsupported envelopes might not be covered by your printer's warranty.
note_image33x30.gif Note: The heat from the printing process can melt certain types of envelope glue. If the envelope flap sticks shut after printing the test print, tuck the flaps inside the envelopes when printing the remaining envelopes. Printing envelopes from the envelope feeder
  1. Insert the envelopes into the envelope feeder. For more information, refer to the Trays section of the Trays and Paper Guide on the Interactive Documentation CD-ROM.
    • Place the side to be printed faceup.
    • The top of the envelopes should be toward the left of the printer.
