Sounds like the door gasket is worn out. Have it replaced. This may very well be all you need to do.

TV will not turn on and stay on when turned on. I have a ViewSonic 4060w LCD TV Is there a battery on the TV that needs to be replaced? I have unplugged and repluggehald TV. What can I do? I have to...

iF THE SET is a year or even two old and you have to repeatedly turn it on and on but once it is on it is ok, the problem is in the set's power supply.

All of these sets (every brand) have a "standby Power supply" built into them, it runs 7/24 even if the set is not turned on. One of the areas some companies cut corners on is the filter capacitors in this part of the set: Say the constant voltage is 9 volts and they use 10 volt rated caps, the caps will fail after a year or two from heat.

The reason companies do this is the cost difference say on 10,000 sets between 10 volt versus 16 volt rated caps is a nice piece of money.

If someone opens it and follows the power cord to the supply it will be easy to see, these caps (see photo) have a perfectly flat silver top with creases---any caps puffed up are bad.

Look at the caps and Before you rate this information let me know what you find, this problem will not just go away and usually gets worse and worse until the unit will not turn on at all.

My Whirlpool 25.5 Refri. compressor kick in about 15 second and kick off. The fan still working good and condensor been clean. Is it a leak? Please tell me estimate cost for repair. Thanks Joe.

Hello Joe

Your compressor is locked up. And yes, a leak could have caused it to overheat.
Check your warranty to see if it is still covered. The warranties varied with year and model.
An estimate is going to have quite a range because there is not enough information. Depending on the labor rates in your area, and the parts needed, (both unknown), I'd say $600.00-$1200.00.

Hope this helps.

My fridge frezzer feels quite warm on outside but is cold on inside?

This is a normal condition. In addition to a defrost heater in the freezer compartment, there are heaters in the case of the fridge. These heaters are placed in areas that are prone to moisture build up - most notably, around / near the doors. This happens more so in humid areas / times of the year and not so much in dryer places and times. The heaters run automatically to evaporate any moisture that collect.

Some manufacturers provide a switch that can disable the heaters. You can try the switch in either position and set as desired. The "Off" position will lower the fridge operating costs, but may cause the case to rust is moisture forms and is not wiped off.

I hope this helps & good luck!

Ice builds up inside packages in freezer.

This is the moisture coming out of the food. It is what causes freezer burn.

The problem is made worse in frost free models by the defrost cylce. Best way to slow it down is to use vacuum bags or freezer bags. Also above 0 F food deterioates faster and below it gets freezer burn and the moisture problem faster.

GE zir36n rh Monogram 36" built in refrigerator

I finally got my refrigerator fixed after three years of complaining. The units are set up to have the fan running even if the cooling unit is not currently on. So when the unit is not cooling, then the fan is brining in moisture from the outside air which causes the water/mold. GE repair rewired the fan to run only when the unit cools on 4/20/10 and it has fixed my problem!!! Of course, this was only after I have thrown out a LOT of food!

Blinking red light 5 times

This problem is due to moisture content in the flyback transformer surrounding area. Due to this moisture content screen control voltage is changed. Without getting a exact voltage the indicator will not stop. 5 times blinking is only for screen malfunction. Make one general service by cleaning the deflection area and adjusting screen control the problem is solved.

Digital Tempeture numbers off

Those control boards are sort of flakey and any kind of power surge, etc. can really goof them up. If you check under the very bottom of the fridge there should be a technical sheet taped up to the underside in a plastic bag. Take that out and read it to see if there is a test reset you can do before replacing the board.
