Question about Janome Memory Craft 10000

1 Answer

Button hole maker keeps telling me to put the BH lever down, when it is already down.

I've had problems getting my button hole maker (Janome10000) to work. Even though it may make two or three button holes it at some point will instruct me to put the BH lever down...when it is already down. I've tried pushing back up and back down, starting all over, and it sews two or three stitches and stops and tells me to pull down the BH lever. (Even though it is down)

SOURCE: The Reverse stitch button

The feed mechanism needs to be oiled. Take off the bottom cover and look for any place where two parts move against each other. Some binds can be very difficult to remove. Try spraying everything with a light weight oil (I like Tri-Flow) and let them soak over night. Then manually try to move the feed dogs with your hand. Hopefully it will break loose.
Good luck!

SOURCE: my button holes aren't consistent -backing up doesn't work proper

It sounds as though you are using the Memory button hole setting which sews the BH forward on one side(leg of the button hole ) and backward on the other side. You have button holes on Numbers 11-16. I think #16 is the one you are trying to use but the others are easier. Put the button in the special foot, pull the BH lever down( It is located on the left side of the machine towards the rear of the machine ).Select #11 and the machine should sew both legs in the same direction. This machine has always made great button holes.

SOURCE: I cant get the machine to sew a buttonhole.

I am not familiar with your machine, but some buttonhole attachments require a lever be lowered and inserted into a tab.

Review your manual to see if a step was overlooked.

Insert the button into the special button hole foot. put the foot on the machine.Pull down the button hole lever( It's near the presser foot lever towards the back of the machine). Place your needle where you want the button hole to be. Select the button hole pattern and press on the pedal. Watch for the end of the button hole.

Machine will not complete a buttonhole, keeps showing error code 6L. No error code listed in manual. Machine will only do first half of buttonhole and then shows code and stops.

I've been looking too and I found here http://sewing.patternreview.com/cgi-bin/sewingclasses/board.pl?t=18328that you need to put the bar behind the needle threader down. I think they call it a button hole stop? I don't know, but it worked. I didn't even know it existed. But it solved my problem. On my Kenmore it looks like a black lever and you pull it down. It tells the button-holer that you are at the end of the hole and it needs to backup. nifty, kind of.

Automatice Buttonhole attachment

I'm going to assume the button fit into the button hole foot to measure the length of button hole. If this is correct, then there is a lever very near the presser foot bar which needs to be pulled down to be engaged by the bh foot. Let me know if this is correct.

I have emerald 183 and i can't figure out how to use the buttonhole feature. it keeps sewing just one side. also where exactly do i put the button?

Make sure you have pull down the arm that will engage the button hole mechaizm. Put a button in the back of you button hole foot, attach foot, reach up on the left side just below the light and pull the lever down, choose the button hole , lower tension to 3 and sew out the button hole. The button hole foot should push on the arm when it gets to the end and complete the rest of the button hole. If the columns do not match then it has to be serviced by a husqvarna dealer.
