This problem is your motherboard setting in bios. Change the bios by press del or f2 or f10 and go to bios setup and select the floppy drive which u have 1.44mb as "A" drive and save it and restart ur computer and once again the same problem comes, change the battery 3.3v in ur motherboard

Just bought a teac fd-05pub usb portable diskette drive. i have a dell computer with windows vista. when i pluged it in the device was installed, however the power light comes on for a few seconds then...

The below is on the basis that the drive is visible in "Computer"...

This can be tow thing, one the drive is not receiving enough power from your USB port, try unplugging any addtional USB devices connected to the PC, if this doesn't work try a powered USB hub. Second the floppy disk is faulty or the drive itself is faulty.

Hope this helps, let me know how it goes.

I applied samsung sfd-321b floopy disc. but it doesn't work. the green light is on. But I cannot find on my PC. How can I solve the problem.

If the green light is constantly on then the ribbon cable has been fitted the wrong way around.

To fix some ribbon cables have a twist in them this side goes to the floppy drive and not the motherboard. The red line on the ribbon cable corresponds to number 1 on the drive itself.

Hope this helps!

My floppy drive tells me to insert a disk when I try to use it

Sounds like you have a bad drive or the disk is corrupted. Did you try a different floppy disk to see if the drive is functioning?

Disk error 13.01

This means the the floppy disk drive has dirty the reader/recorder heads, or the heads are misaligned, or the floppy has a mechanical problem during the reading process.

You can start in blowing compressed air inside the floppy disk.

If it does not work, then the floppy drive will need to be serviced or replaced.

P4VMM2 - ???

disconnect drive 'A' floppy drive and see if it will boot up without it connected. It may be that the floppy is faulty if you know the ide cable is on the correct way round, as your pc may be set to halt on all errors

No power

Well, the first step in any problem of this nature is to narrow down the problem. We have three main things in effect here, and we need to know which one has the problem before we can fix it. First, the disk itself. Try other disks and make sure the disk is not faulty. Second, the usb ports. Try other devices in your usb ports to ensure they are installed and configured properly. If all of those work, it is narrowed down to the floppy drive itself. If it does not work on any pc's at all, then it definately has a problem, and I would suggest contacting SmartDisk technical support.
