The easiest method is simply by holding down the reset button located on the back of the unit for at least 30 seconds. Once the router has been reset, it must be reconfigured. Using your web browser go to URL address http://192.168.1.1. You will then be prompted to login to your router. A log-in screen asking for the password will automatically appear. At this time enter the default password “admin”, in lower case letters into the password field. The username field may be left blank at this time. (Note: both the default username and default password are set to “admin” on some of the newer Linksys router models). Hope this helps...sodeep

I need to change my linksys routher password how to change?

Hi Friend,

If you want to change the password for router login page then please follw the steps:
1. Click Start \ Run\ type cmd and hit enter
2. In the black window typ the command ipconfig and hit enter.
3. Note down the default gateway and close this window.
4. Open the web browser and type the default gateway and hit enter.
6. The default password is admin and leave the username blank.
7. In the router setup page click Administration
8. In the left pane you will see Router password. Type the new password and re-type it. Then click save settings and turn the oruter off for 30 seconds and then try to login with this new password.

If you want to apply security on your router, so that no one can use your network, then please follow the steps:

1. Open the web browser and type the default gateway and enter the password.
2. Click Wireless and then Wireless Security.
3. Select WPA Personal from the drop down of Security mode.
4.WPA Algorithm should be TKIP
5.Type any ten digit number as the Shared key and note it down and click save settings.

Turn the router off and switch it on. Now whenever you try to connect your wireless devices use the shared key as the security key.

I hope this will resolve the issue.

Regards
Chiranjeet

Lost code

the code if unchanged can usually be found on the back of the routher, if not try checking on your daughters computer. If she still has access then the key is stored in her machine.
Try right clicking on the wi-fi connection you wish to use in the bottom right task tray then clicking properties then select show characters... this should be the wireless key your looking for.

Hope I could help

Wireless will not connect to internet after installing XP Service Pack 3. Router is a Linksys WRT54G2, adapter is a Linksys WMP11. Router is set to "mixed".

Try upgrading the firmware for your routher and the linksys WMP11. Also try setting router to 802.11g instead of mixed to see if it connects.

My internet won't go wireless

routher cable must be connected to the Internet, then connect the cable routher - pc and run your browser in order to configure the connection. check that you have enabled wifi, save the settings and check if it works. Make sure that your ISP does not grant the Internet through the network adapter MAC address, in which case you will need to change your MAC address on the routhera which you used previously.

Conecting my Brother Wireless Printer

Hello....I'll try and help you make a start.

1. To find the settings you need to set up your printer, you will need to login to your router. Open a web browser, as if to view a web page, but instead type http://192.168.1.1 into the address bar at the top.

2. If successful, you are prompted for a username and password. If you have not changed these, leave username blank , and enter password: admin. Otherwise, please enter the password you have set.

3. If you log in successfully, you should see the Linksys router configuration screen.

Select the Wireless tab, and go to ‘Basic Wireless Settings’ > Wireless network. You should see here your SSID or Wireless Network Name, as required for your printer setup.

4. Go to ‘Wireless Security’. If the ‘Security Mode’ is set to ‘Disabled’, your system is Open or unsecured: your encryption type will be ‘None’.

If, however, it is set to WEP, your WEP key should be shown below. If it is set to WPA-Personal or similar, your WPA Shared Key should be shown below. This is the key described in your posting as the WPA2-PSK or Pre-Shared Key: it is also known as the network key, security key, or passphrase.

I think this covers all the settings mentioned in your posting. For further information, SecureEasySetup, AOSS and WPS/Wi-fi Protected Setup are shortcut methods to enable security on your router. Recent versions of your router model support SecureEasySetup.

You can download a copy of the manual for your router from the Linksys site: http://www.linksysbycisco.com/US/en/support/WRT54G/download
(You will need to check your router label for the correct version number.)

I hope this helps. This advice is based on the Linksys WRT54G user manual. However, please come back to Fixya if this is not clear or does not work for you.

Connection Issue

Hello There. What error message are you getting when you try to connect?

It would be better if you check the settings of your router. YOu need to hardwire the computer to the router via an ethernet cable. By default, you may access the router via http://192.168.1.1 using your web browser. No username, type admin on the password.

First, you may check the number of DHCP users that can connect to your router. On the setup page, Make sure that the No. of clients/DHCP users is set to 50(by default).

Second, go to the wireless tab then take note of your network name if you are connecting to the correct network. Under the wireless tab, click wireless security tab, verify that you are using the correct KEY.

If you are, remove your preferred networks on the computers then try to reconnect.

Hope this helps.
