If the set's input is selected to AV, it will skip tuner. Check whether its the reason. Check its input selection first. If it is set to AV; set it to TV. Gopakumar Gopalan Google

How do i get a cd player to hook up to a sansui au 9900a amplifier as well as the sansui tu 9900 tuner

You can connect the CD player to the amplifier using a standard set of RCA cables (left and right channel / red & white connectors). Connect the CD output to an input on the amplifier (usually one designated for CD or possibly "Aux") Then select this input source in order on the Amplifier.

There would be no reason to connect the CD player to a Tuner. Not even sure a tuner whould have any inputs in order to connect a CD player.

I can't get my Olevia tv (537-B11) to scan for channels

I don't know this model of TV, however, you may find that you need to use the Source button on the remote to cycle through the available inputs & select digital tuner as the input source before you press the Menu button & go into the setup section.

Which button on the remote control is for switching from TV to AV (VCR)?

The TV/Video button on the original remote for the KDL-26S2000 should let you cycle through the inputs on the TV. This button is at the upper left of the remote. (However, if you have set the system to Skip inputs, you may need to remove the skip option.)

There is also a TV/Video button on the front of the TV. It's the second button from the left on the panel (it's just to the right of the menu button).

To reset the input list, press Menu and navigate to Settings. Select the Setup sub-menu and then select the Label Video Inputs. Give the input any label other than skip.

Some TVs work best if the TV is turned on and set to that input source before you turn on the source device.

For additional information and pictures of the menus, see the manual. It is available from Sony support: http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=KDL26S2000&template_id=1&region_id=1&tab=manuals#/manualsTab (see the Manuals, Specs and Warranty tab). The direct link to the manual is http://www.docs.sony.com/release/KDL40S2000.pdf .
I hope this helps.

We have a Samsung Smart TV. We cannot get the signal and have installed a Digital Satellite Receiver. We have a Magnavox VCR and a sony DVD Player. We owuld like to attache the same to our TV and watch...

Hi there,

Depending on your Satellite receiver's output type (i.e. HDMI or Component - Red, Green, Blue) you should connect to your tv's appropriate external inputs. Example: if you choose to connect the receiver via HDMI, then you use the SOURCE button on your tv and select the correct HDMI input you have connected your device to. If connected by Component (Red, Green, Blue) then use the SOURCE button to select the correct Component input, and so on.

Note: HDMI is the best connection type - you won't be able to access your receiver from the tv's built in tuner.

As above explanation, your VCR and DVD devices should be connected to your tv in the same manner - unless it is a combo unit (VCR & DVD in one), in which case this device can be tuned into your chosen tv channel (via the tv's tuner).

Note: if you have one of the latest SMART tv's, it should already have a built-in "Hi Definition" tuner which will allow you to watch free digital tv broadcast (DVB).

Hope this helps...

Having trouble getting tv set up. It has on the screan No Signal

When a TV says "no signal" it means it cannot find a video sync present on the input which is currently selected. Knowing your TV Manufacturer and model would help tremendously, as would knowing what it is hooked up to.
For starters, it could be one of a few things:
  • It is selected to an input to which there is no source connected [SOLUTION] make sure the TV is set to view the correct input (INPUT or SOURCE) button.
  • The cable between the source and the TV is bad, or the plugs are not properly seated at both ends of the cable [SOLUTION] Make sure that BOTH ends of the cable are pushed all the way in, and securely seated. If that doesn't work, try replacing the cable with a different one
  • You have the cables connected incorrectly (for example, a composite video signal (yellow) will fit into a left or right audio connector (red or white). If you are plugging in by reaching around but can't see, this could be a problem. I have also seen people plug video inputs into outputs (many TVs have a video loop out, so if you plug something IN to that you aren't going to get picture. [SOLUTION] Make sure you physically inspect the inputs on the TV and outputs on the source
  • It is trying to use it's internal tuner (if it has a digital tuner) and there is no cable or antenna feed attached [SOLUTION] make sure the TV is set to view the correct input (INPUT or SOURCE) button.
  • The source you are trying to watch (DVD player, etc) is not turned on [SOLUTION] verify that the source is plugged in and outputting video
  • The TV is defective. [SOLUTION] take it back . . . its a lemon.

I HAVE NO CABLE BETWEEN TUNER AND AMPLIFIER

Normally you should have a stereo "line" connection. The cable consists of a pair of "RCA male connectors" on each end of the cable, "RCA" is the style of the connectors, usually one red and one black or white on each end.. "Line" refers to the type signal and voltage level of the signal. The tuner should have a pair of output jacks labeled as such and also labeled Right and Left. The power amp should have similar jacks labeled "tuner input" or "tape in", "phono in" etc. don't use phono or "mic in" if that is a choice. Use tuner in or tape in. Connect the same colors to the same channel on each unit, ie, red to right and black to left on each unit. On the amp you may have the option to select the input source. Select the one you are using for the tuner. Turn on the tuner and the amp and listen. Good Luck.

When I try to set our TV to locate digital channels, the menu skips the channel selection when I scroll through options of picture, audio, channel, lock, setup. All the options are available.

It sounds like your TV is on a different input. If you watch your cable from an external cable box, and this box is plugged into your TV using wires that are yellow, red, and white, or red, blue, green, red and white, you're currently watching TV on a different input than the one used for the antenna. Channels in a TV are controlled by the tuner. The tuner is the silver, threaded, post on the back of a TV, DVR, converter box, or VCR, that you plug an antenna or cable wire to. The tuner contols channels while the other inputs on your TV carry a direct signal like a computer to a monitor. So when you use something other than coaxial cable to connect cable to your TV, you can't access the channel menu while on that input. To access that menu, change the TV's input or source to TV or stop when you see a channel number on the screen. You have to be on the TV or tuner input in order to access the channel menu. If you're on any other input such as, S-Video, AV1, AV2, component (Yp Br Cr), HDMI, etc. you will not be able to do a channel scan. You have to be on the right input or source.

I hope I've provided you useful assistance and that this information allows you to make an informed decision as to how to proceed from here. Please be sure to vote on my response. I hope I've earned a good rating from you today.

Please post a comment if you need additional assistance so that I can help you further.

Hooking up

depends what you're trying to hookup. TV? take coax from tv out to INPUT on back of ilo, setup tuner(selected in source). From VHS? hook up a vcr to another one of the inputs, A/V one the unit. Even the ones on the front will do. Then after going into the record menu and setting up the length/quality settings, then select source to select which input you want to record from and hit record. Try to end it before your alotted time expires and forget about programming it to record something automatically via the time, It never works well, if at all for me. Best bet is +RW's depending on unit. Mine is MU unit and Sony +R's work good for me.
