Try changing the needle
make sure the bobbin is turned the correct way in the bobbin case
make sure the top thread has not come off the thread take up lever
if these suggestion don't help then the machine needs to be checked to see if it needs some type of adjustments

SOURCE: Using Singer 7470 for the first time, and my

1. Take bobbin out and re-insert and thread.
If that dosen't work, try:
2. Take bobbin out and bobbin case, clean area and re-insert bobbin case and bobbin.
If that dosen't work, try:
3. Re-thread the top thread that goes to the needle. (Sometimes the thread dosen't hook to the "Thread take-up"(page 6 on manual). It pulls the bobbin thread and the bobbing becomes loose inside the bobbin case.
If that dosen't work, try:
4. Wind a new bobbin (Sometimes a bobbin might wind thread to lose) Do not wind thread to the edge of bobbin.
If that dosen't work, you should take it in to be serviced...Somenthing might become loose that only a technitian can correct.
Also check manual for troubleshooting.
Good luck.....

SOURCE: Singer 4623 bobbin thread won't catch

Hi! Did you by chance, change your needle? If so, make sure you have the flat side of the needle shaft facing the correct direction. If the needle isn't in all the way or the flat side of the shaft facing the right way, the bobbin thread won't pick up.

Let me know if this helps, ok?

Happy Sewing!

Try a brand new needle. If that doesn't work, then the machine is most likely out of time. Search for sewing machine timing or take it for service.

Noisy top bobbin winders is usually caused by no oil on the spindle, or the noise could be coming from a dry top shaft under the balance wheel which is very common

I have a Confidence 7470 purchased in May 2009. I was sewing tulle today and the thread kept snapping while sewing. I assumed it was catching in the tulle. The last time it snapped, the thread jammed in...

Sounds like your machine is off timing, When the machine is properly timed, you should see the hook passing behind the eye of the needle when the needle is on it's upward stroke. If this is not correct the machine will not pick up the bobbin thread. You may have to take it in for adjusting, unless your a bit machnical.

How do you thread a bobbin on a singer sewing machine

Normally there is a pin on top or the side that the bobbin goes on to and then a rubber wheel clicks over to the bobbin and when you run the machine it will wind the thread onto the bobbin, If that doesn't work then do a search for a manual for your machine on the Internet,

My singer 7470 is skipping stitches on the left hand side ie. if im doing letters it misses the bottom 1/3rd. and other wider patterns misses about 1 in 12 ? i have cleaned bobbin case and it has obviously...

Take the machine in for service by an authorized Singer tech.

Hitting the bobbin case may have knocked the timing off and the shuttle may have to be replaced.

Trying to fix this yourself may lead to more problems and additional expense.

Singer 7470 thread getting caught on hook

Take out the bobbin and parts again and check there is nothing caught in that area. Ensure you put them back in correctly as sometimes they can go in slightly misaligned. Also rethread the top to ensure smooth running. Make sure all dials are set to a straight stitch and it is not some misalignment of these causing the knocking.

Thread catching and bunching up in bobbin latch while sewing

I had the same problem where the thread was getting all bunched up on the underside. I took everything out and followed the manual concerning threading, then manually moved my right wheel to see if it would get bunched up. It took awhile, but I finally got it sew correctly again. I;m still not sure what was wrong with it. I have a singer 7470.
