Question about Insignia NS-P42Q10A Plasma TV
Tv will only turn on for a second with reddish looking static, then it turns back off and the power LED flashes five times. Any ideas on where to start troubleshooting?

This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power led, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. i think your capacitor is blown, do a google search for insignia, lcd, capacitor...
you can buy another one for about $2 but its a pain to install, you can also instead buy a new powerboard for about $80, its an east install and you wont blow more capacitors

Nice....needs repairs.....I'll never buy another Insignia!! Mine had burned images on it after few months.....also same issue with power button. I'm a computer engineer. I figure change the power supply.....small component.....if anyone has basic electrical experience....you can do it yourself......save you a couple hundred.
