SOURCE: Pull cord on chain saw will not retract.

Most of the rancher models are easy to look at. Take the four screws off that hold the starter cover on.When off have a look to see if the pulley is ok or one of the starter dogs(pawls) is jamed . If dogs ok take the screw out of the centre of pulley and remove it ,check for spring tension. if there is just be carful to leave sring in housing. look at spring if broken or out of shape renew it and rope.check for cracks in pulley. When renewing spring and rope get correct rope length and diameter. don't over tension new spring. hop this helps

McCulloch Manuals
Illustrated Parts Lists: (IPLs) are fairly simple. On the underside of McCulloch saws is a black and yellow tag; the upper number (“Power Mac 320” 600021H) is the model, below it a serial number (11-18555). These 2 numbers are combined to create an IPL number (“Power Mac 320” IPL number = 11-600021H). The IPL number can be used to find the correct IPL for every McCulloch parts supplier I’ve found. If the parts supplier only list part numbers the proper IPL is the source for the part number.
Operator’s Manuals: are much more difficult. I’ve dialed this number many times (Contact Us - All McCulloch Products 1 (800) 521-8559) and have yet to get a satisfactory response. Please try this! If enough of us try they will fix it! If unsuccessful with McCulloch try here:

SOURCE: Can't pull the starter cord,

Hi and welcome to FixYa, I am Kelly
Remove the muffler and clean out the exhaust port and screen. You will have to disassemble the muffler and clean off or replace the screen item 8 of this link:
http://www.partstree.com/parts/?lc=echo&mn=CS-330T++S%2FN%3A+C08611001001+-+C08611999999&dn=7946

Before taking the muffler apart... unhook the spark plug and just pull it though with the muffler removed. If it pulls normally you know you have found the problem.

If it still pulls hard...check the exhaust port of the cylinder head for 2 tiny holes (not screw holes) Some have them some don't depending upon the year of the saw. If you do find 2 small holes that appear clogged with carbon... do your best to clean them out.

Thanks for choosing FixYa,
Kelly

How do I replace a pull cord for pm 605 mcculloch chainsaw?

First remove the pull starter housing.
The next part is tricky. You'll have to release and unwind the spring that rewinds the pull starter cord. Remember how you do this because after replacing the cord, you'll have to rewind the cord and spring before inserting it back in the housing.
re-attach the pull cord housing to the chain saw.
Hope this helps.

Chain saw was working fine and shut down suddenly. The gas/oil mixture was bubbling so I let cool. I also cleaned the air filter on the carbureator that was blocked. It still won"t start.

The fuel lines may have become air-locked.This can happen if the tank is run dry. If the saw has a primer bulb, alternatively press it several times and then try to pull start the engine with choke on. Repeat this several times. The primer bulb should feel spongy and fill with fuel.
If you're up to it, you can dismantle the carburettor and clean any dirt from valves. The carburettors on chainsaws, hedge cutters etc. are very fiddly with delicate diaphragms, valves and springs so you have to be careful to avoid damage or loosing parts.
Ensure air filter is clean. Foam elements can be washed with hot water and detergent, squeezed dry in a cloth and re-oiled with a teaspoon of engine oil spread through the foam. Paper elements can be cleaned with compressed air blown from the inside of the filter but ideally should be replaced.
Check fuel lines aren't kinked or blocked restricting fuel flow.
Ensure fuel filter isn't dirty. This is probably located at the end of the fuel line in the tank.
Check the throttle cable is actuating the throttle plate in the carburettor.
Check whether there is a vent on the tank or on fuel cap. There is usually a valve on this to allow air into tank to replace fuel as it leaves for the carburettor. Ensure this isn't blocked.

My chainsaw leaks oil out of a small hole or drain just below the base of the bar. is there anyway to way to stop this

are you sure you aren't talking about the chain oiler system? There is to be a small amount of oil to lubricate the bar and chain.

Automatic oiler has never worked well even when saw was new, chain never gets enough oil. Should I use a lighter grade oil, or what else should I check?

Take the bar off the saw and check that the hole that the oil comes out hasn't become blocked with saw dust. It sometimes happens also that when you are filling the saw with oil, shavings and saw dust can get into the tank and this can block the pipes connecting the tank to the hole that the oil comes out. Although it isn't really recommended, I have used waste engine oil regularly for oiling the saw. This works ok as long as there aren't any lumps in it.

My 110 model chain saw sucks chain oil back into the piston cylinder. When I remove the spark plug and pull the cord it spews out red chain oil. What is the remedy

Did you adjust the oiler? To far CW might cause this. The automatic oiler is driven by an impulse line from the crankcase. If the piston assembly is to deep or has failed there is a direct line into the crankcase.

The IPL for your saw is probably the only isllustration of what you seek. Use this to construct "YourIPLNumber":

I need info on a Poulan Pro 445 fuel line routing

I'm so confused. This is reported as a Poulan and McCulloch pole saw, which one? Is it a pole saw? That is the only 445 Poulan I can find. It is reported as an electric but has a fuel routing problem.

If it is a Poulan Pro gas pole saw it is here: PP445 Gas Pole Pruner
The fuel system routing is terrible, but it is all there is.
Fuel Routing follows:
Tank to carburetor (hose in tank with filter on free end)
Carburetor to primer (primer draws fuel from the tank through the carb)
Primer to fuel tank (returns any excess fuel to tank when pushed) HTH
