Have you re-formatted the drive at all, added any new files to it? To test the unit try a new USB drive with only 1 MP3 track on it. Let's make sure the unit can read that so we can eliminate a hardware issue with the deck.

MY USB port says reading when i connect a USB drive. WHy?

ANSWER: The USB is not going to work with your iPod. It is intended to be used with a flash drive or external hard drive with a folder structure containing either .mp3 or .wma files.
REASON: The way the USB works on the system is that it reads all the files and folders on the entire device and will say "reading" until it reads all the files and folders. This should only take a few seconds but if there is tons of files it may take longer. Main problem: An iPod contains much more than just music files and folders - it contains an entire operating system. Worse, the operating system which the iPod uses is protected, keeping other devices except for iTunes from reading the music files.
SOLUTION: You will need to use a flash drive or external hard drive with your USB. This device can only contain music, and the music must be organized into folders. Your iPod will not work. However, you can use Auxiliary input using a cable which both ends are 1/4" headphone jacks, one end going to the iPod and other plugged into your stereo.

I have a kenwood KDC-MP438U stereo. Ipod error.

Hi If anything the stereo was probably designed and tested using a certain version of the Iphones software, now that version 4 has been released the way the IPhone communicates may have changed.

As a result the stereo is no longer able to talk to the phone and vice versa. your probably best off contacting Kenwood direct to see if they are aware of this problem and if there is anything that can be done about it.

I have usb conection in my car stereio.and it wont read the sandisk fuze

The USB connection on your car's stereo is for listening to songs copied onto a USB flash drive.
The USB drive should be formatted in FAt or FAT32 and its size may also be limited to only 1GB although newer models are capable of reading higher capacity drives.
It will not read music from your Fuze as it is not of a correct format.
