Hi. I have a Mackie onyx 1640i. 2 days ago it was working, but now the computer sees only 2 output channels. There was no shock, etc... Thx

Check the settings in your computer in the control panel "sounds and devices" under the "Voice" and "Audio" tabs. Check that all are set to the Mackie instead of the computers default input.

What is the setup you are using. What mics (make and model). What are the settings for the channels? With this info, I should be able to assist.

Please update this.

Thanks,

I have had a mackie onyx satellite preamp for over about 2 years and it has worked flawlessly for recording on my computer. A week ago my computer suddenly couldn't find the unit when I turned it on and...

Did your computer recently update? If so, any changes to any drivers might be causing this issue. It's not good to regularly download and install Windows updates, as most are not stable releases. Download updates only after stable releases have been issued. Or, don't do the update at all, unless it's a security update.

You'll probably need to contact Mackie Support for this one. They might have to send you updated drivers or update the firmware on your unit to address this problem.

Weak playbakc signal when usinh firewire card in my Mackie 1220

I have had this same problem. I don't have a fix for it, but I have noticed that I can make it go away if I increase the signal strength going back to the Mackie card to an extreme level (by spiking the volume on my cubase software mixer). This seems to make the connection better for some reason.
I would love to learn what is causing this.

Onyx 1640 shows connection but no audio recorded.

Sometimes Windows XP will seem to "forget" that you have Mackie drivers. In such cases you need to go into Hardware Manager, uninstall the drivers, then press F5 to check for hardware changes. It will find the drivers again and take you through the installation process. Sometimes this "forgetting" seems to be triggered by the order in which you turn on the computer and board. It seems that for the first version of the Onyx drivers I had to turn the board on first, then the computer. I have updated my Onyx drivers and now it seems that I must turn on the board after XP is loaded and ready to go. Otherwise Windows can't "see" that the board is attached and thus Sonar or whatever won't be able to record. Sometimes when this happens I can turn the board off and back on, then Windows sees it. However, when that fails I uninstall and reinstall the drivers as I described earlier and it always solves the problem.
