If any doubt about the fans in your computer (CPU, GPU, case...), you must monitor the TEMPERATURES, with a software, and with your fingers by gently touching surfaces : if it hurts (really HOT), stop the computer and fix the fan...
But your pbremains unclear : please add details !

Its probably getting too hot in the PC, and causing it to shut down.
When FVD starts to do heavy processing the PC draws more power and the processor gets hotter. If the heatsink and fans are dirty or loose the processor gets too hot and decides to shut down the PC to stop it burning up. Clean all dust from inside PC and fan areas, make sure heatsink is firmly attached to top of CPU inside PC.

Fan slow down and them high speed

change the fan ASAP, since the zooming noise and the slow performance will affect even the processor and you might end up replacing the processor as well if it persists. So get the fan ASAP and problem will be solved.

Hi im running windows vista home premium, and ive noticed my fan has been running all the time for months now and it gets really hot, I also noticed that my processor runs between 60 & 100% now too. im...

With all the stuff running in the background of Vista, and Norton, you could very well be maxing out the computer. Memory, processor or both. I have a laptop, and I close down the HP total care advisor, and any periphial programs running that I am not going to use. like backup programs and printer standby stuff. Norton does use a lot of resources especially on updating an d processing the updates. I usually let my PC do it's thing until the HD activity light quiets down before I try to use it.

Hi I opened a work computer Dell GX260 to clean it out as a favour for my boss. I've removed the processor fan in the process. I then decided that I don't have the right equipment to properly clean it....

You confirm all the connectors are properly connected. Check the power supply connector and the power button connector. Remove the cpu fan connector and refix it properly. Ther is no other chance for failure.

My asus eee is not switching on, the screen is flickering on and off but nothing is being displayed on the screen and it isnt coming on...

That problem is from the processor fan not working in which will have affected your processor itself ok try and replaced the processor fan if its not working and if affected by the processor you will need to change that too for normal and adequate functioning of the system .ok

Computer turns on but no Video and doesn't go through POST.

Before you "fry it" try taking the CPU fan off of the processor, remove the processor, reinsert the processor and CPU fan and see what happens.

Cooling fan stop working

Hi,
It's normal for the fan to stop and start, as needed. However, it sounds as if the heat sink attached to the processor and fan may be clogged with dust/fuzz/hair, etc. If you can, vacuum or blow air back through the ventilation ports to clear the debris.
This usually causes the fan to run constantly. It's possible that you need to adjust the power management settings in control panel-toshiba power management.
Also, try keeping the laptop in a cool place and see if it makes a difference.
Let me know how it works.
Good luck
