Question about Brother Multi-Function Center MFC-240C All-In-One InkJet Printer

1 Answer

Brother mfc 5460cn

I have a brother all in one and took it out of the box for the first time, display is reading "Change Unable 51". The users guide keeps telling me to check for paper jams, then power cycle it. But it has never been used. I have checked everything inside and out and have no idea what could be causing this. It starts up, sounds like it is loading the paper and setting up, then just goes to this error on the screen.

Hi,
a 6ya Technician can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.
Best thing about this new service is that you are never placed on hold and get to talk to real repair professionals here in the US.
click here to Talk to a Technician (only for users in the US for now) and get all the help you need.
Goodluck!

I have a MFC-5460CN and it is flashing across the screen "print unable 30 see troubleshooting and routine maintenance chapter in user guide" and we do not have a user guide

The 30 error says the carriage is not moving freely. Look on the extreme right and left with a light and see if there's a paper wad on either side. If you had a paper jam you could have pulled the encoder strip out of the sensor slot on the carriage and may need a shop to repair, but check for paper first.

Please tell us what machine do you really have:
Is it a mfc 420cn or a mfc 5460cn?

Did you have a paperjam before getting the error?
This might be due to the paperjam.

Ill try to give you some more help but need more info...
