Question about Acer Aspire 5734Z4386 Notebook
I put it on sleep mode and the next day, it didn't want to turn on. The power light is on and the fan runs for about a second and then stops, but still nothing shows up.. What's the problem?
First thing to try:
Remove your battery and charger, hold the power button for 10-15 seconds. Plug the laptop into mains ONLY leaving the battery out. Try powering it up.
If the laptop powers up ok, shut-down and re-insert your battery. You should find your laptop will continue to work fine for the foreseeable future, this kind of issue is a common occurrence on laptops.
If not I would then try re-seating your RAM/Memory, if that doesn't work and you have more than one stick remove one at a time to see if either one is causing the problem. If you have only one stick find a replacement to test your laptop with.
If you are still finding the same issues with the laptop I would then proceed to reseat all components of laptop, including the CPU.
If the issues continue I would then remove all non-essential components one by one, each time attempting to power the laptop. At worst you will eventually end up with just the mainboard, CPU, RAM and an external monitor plugged into the mainboard, that still doesn't function correctly. I would then conclude your mainboard needs replacing.

Testimonial: "So, question, where would my RAM be located ontop of my laptop? I'm good with computers, but completely clueless on how the actual thing works.... Thanks for your answer. I tried your first tip but that didn't work out, so I'm trying the RAM reset, I just need to know where it is first before I start anything else.."
a 6ya expert can help you resolve that issue over the phone in a minute or two.

I also have this problem with my Acer netbook. I have only had it for 4 months and am in Turkey on an extended break at the moment. I have taken the netbook to a dealer here and have been told the problem is the motherboard, verified by Acer themselves. I am not happy with this as the netbook was not cheap and there appears to be a few Acer models with the same problem

The power button may not work, that is most common in laptops, or you have a short.

This is a sample of what you can try to do to diagnose a non-starting computer, If these don’t work, realize that most likely a system board (motherboard) has failed or the actual power trim strip above the keyboard has failed.

I'm having the same problem, but I don't want to have to turn off my computer EVERY time it does this. (I have not been able to shut down the laptop normally because it goes into sleep every time.) I've heard that after 3 hours it builds up an eletrical charge and you have to take the battery out, but I havn't had it on for 3 hours at a time.
