Most USB ports are on by default.
If you are using a USB mouse / keyboard and they both work.
Your USB ports are working.
If somehow these were turned off, it is most likely in the bios.
Reboot and go into the bios screen. F2 or the Delete key are the most common keys. Usually the monitor will flash these one of these quickly during the boot up process. Hold down the appropriate key till the bios screen opens. Navigate to the USB section and be careful not to change anything else. Wrong setting here and the machine may not boot up. Check to make sure the USB is on Auto, enabled or whatever the bios is for enabling the usb ports. You may have more than one selection. you can experiment a little here. Just note what you select and under which category should you have to return and make another selection.
If your using a Windows machine you may have to reload or update the USB drivers. Slimdrivers is a good update utility found here >>
Download SlimDrivers MajorGeeks
You can update other areas but for now just focus on the USB drivers.
It is not a good idea to update everything at once and then wonder what happened if something goes horribly wrong. :)

Good luck and hope this helps

Try a different USB port. Did the keyboard ever work? Is the USB port active? Check the Device Manager.

Usb ports dont seem to work

In order for the usb ports to work you must have 1 usb from the computer connected to the monitor. The monitor may have a specific input port from the pc in order to activate the other ports on the monitor

One of my usb port is not working samsung laptop

Just use the others. You can get a 4/5 port extension that fits into any one USB (Working Port) for a few dollars. Each port allows additional USB devices to be added onto the original single port. Assuming you have TWO active ports, that translates to 8 USB ports min. Tiger Direct has them cheap.

When I connect My Samsung VP-D77i Camcorder to my Laptop I always get a message saying "cant open camera device". My Laptop does not have a fire wire port but only with USB ports. It has Windows 7 Pre

First, try attaching the camcorder via usb cable with the camera OFF, then turning it on. This may trigger Windows to activate the driver scanner and activate the driver. If you've been attaching with camcorder off, try attaching with it on, to see if that activates driver installation.

If that doesn't work, you may have a low-power usb plug; often the usb ports in the back of the computer put out more juice than the handy ones on the front. You may also need a shorter and more robust usb cable; I've found with various cameras and phones that certain usb cables work fine for recharging but won't necessarily provide adequate data transfer.

My both usb ports r not wrking n hangs when eithr card reader or pen drive is inserted bt works well when tata photon usb port or mouse port or key board port is inserted ?model- EMACHINES E275

Sounds like your laptop's USB ports are not capable of providing enough power to operate your card reader or pen drive. I suggest you buy an active USB hub (one with external power source, rather than the one which draws power from the laptop's USB port), & attach your card reader and/or pen drive to that USB hub.

Why don't the ports on the monitor work?

This monitor has 8-port USB hub that the USB input of the monitor must be connected to the PC USB port. There are fuses for the USB port also to protect the 5VDC output at the USB ports.

Usb ports wont work

Go to Control Panel, System, Hardware, and Device Manager. Look for serial ports/USB ports. Verify installed and active. If not, go to Bios 'setup' at start-up and activate from there. Be sure to save and exit even if you change nothing--otherwise everything returns to default.

Ipaq 4700 active sync problems

i can try to help you , first are you using xp or vista ? and which version of active sync ? i found that after upgrading to active sync v4.5 my ipaq 4700 refused to sync , i have xp home , so by trial and error i learned several things , i tryed my usb cable in every usb slot i had , only to find some usb ports are more friendly to certain devices , for a lack of better terms , i deleted all partnerships in active sync , found that i needed to make sure active sync is not running on ipaq , go to settings / memory / running programs on the ipaq , stop all running programs , turn the ipaq off , then on the pc made sure firewall not locked , plug usb cable into pc , i leave mine in a port permanently , plug into the ipaq , it automatically turns the ipaq on , then i see 2 icons in pc system subtray start blinking , at that point i know sync is going to work , then active sync icon starts turning , lit up in green , and asks do you want to create a partnership , yes , follow prompts , and thats what has been working for me , now if i was to put the usb cable into a different port , no doubt it would give me grief , and the same thing with my phone and active sync , make sure active sync is not running on the device , sometimes i have to reset the unit , ipaq or phone , make sure unit is turned off them make the connection , give it a try .
