Acer Laptop 6930 not detecting any wireless networks. orange light not on. not responding when you press the wireless buttong above the num lock key

On a laptop, the "Num Lock" key has a function slightly different than the one it performs on full-d desktop keyboards. Activating "Num Lock" on a laptop usually transforms a set of central keys, including many letters, into number keys, allowing typists used to entering numbers on a keypad to type efficiently. While on desktop keyboards "Num Lock" usually has a dedicated key, on laptops it often shares a key with another function on MacBooks, for example, it shares the "F6" key and you must hold down the "Shift" or "Fn" key to activate it.

Look for the "Num Lock" key on your laptop's keyboard. This is usually near the top of the keyboard. If the key says nothing on it except "Num Lock" if that's the only function the key performs you can just press it to activate the lock; a light will probably go on somewhere to indicate that "Num Lock" is on. If the key has multiple functions, you'll have to hold down a different key while pressing it. Hold down "Shift" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears above some other writing on the key, the way various symbols appear above the numbers on the keyboard's number row. Hold down "Fn" and press "Num Lock" if the writing saying "Num Lock" appears in a different color often light blue that's shared by the "Fn" key.

On my mini Acer One it is on the right front to the right of the touch pad you can see it with the screen closed and it it a slide switch..

press the button that looks like a satellite dish on the right of the fast forward button above the Num Lock button.. it should start flashing orange

there should be a button right under the screen, right above the keyboard that looks somewhat like a thumbnail, when you press it, it should turn orange telling you it is on.

Without any wireless networks available, using your computer wirelessly is most pointless. If you want to set up a wireless access point in your home you need a wireless router, connected to Internet.

just activate your laptop wireless connection by putting on with the button or manually by in network properties then put the security code of your wireless router when he ask you.

manually jst switch on wont serve the purpose, please do go to control panel. internet options and check out for the problem. there is setting error in your pc..

control panel network connections if your network shows right click
if there is Enable then click
if not click repair
if you have nothing there check devices and see if wireless card shows

maybe a security problem with any anti virurs program or the inter explorer anivirurs program or control panal networking folder or device manager issues

What qualifies you people to write responses? The switch for the 6930 is located just above the NumLock key. It actually looks like an LED indicator of a satellite dish, but it's not. It's the button for the WiFi enable/disable. Push it hard...
