Remote My remote quit working. I changed batteries and it still doesn't work. Any ideas?

Check its battery contacts for any dust or rust. Clean the contacts first and then check.

after changing the batteries make sure you didn't change the remote code. If you didn't there should be a reset button inside the battery compartment, it may just look like a small hole. Just use a toothpick and insert it into the hole and lightly depress the reset switch.Replace the battery cover and try using the remote again.

If the remote works for sometime once the battery is put into , it means that the circuit is erratic as the frency seems to change from the set value. This can be a fault in the processor IC in the remote, a fault in the crystal or associated capacitors. Check also the IR driver transistor which can be leaking and so changes the output.

Check for rusted battery contacts due to leaked batteries. Clean them with polish paper or blade. Due to leaked batteries it is quite likely that the wires connecting remote control pcb & battery contacts are cut off.

The Main Boards in these sets have caused remote control issues and could also cause the Reserved indicator to light. You will need the Model number, and the extension letters and numbers to the right of the Model Number to order the board. I would also have the Serial Number just in case it is also required.

Will the TV turn on using the power button on top of the TV itself?If not,open the back of the TV,and look at the can shaped items called capacitors on the circuit boards.If any of them have the tops,or bottoms bulged out,they need to be replaced.This should get it working again.I hope this helps.If you have any questions,please let me know.Thank You very much!

sometimes if the batter is of expired stock then also it does not work.also try to clean the contacts in the sockets where u insert the battery.if still does not works then its quite possible that the internal circuit of the remote has gone fasulty.so the remote now needs replacement.

You can also try to take out the batteries and push all of the buttons with the batteries out of the remote. Then put the batteries back in and push the power button on the remote. If this doesnt work press the two TV buttons at the same time and the remote should be fine.
